I've been obsessed with this jacket since I was 14. I thought it was so pretty and spent literally a decade looking on ebay, mercari, other thrifting sites etc and I finally found it a week or two ago.

Hello PoppySeeds, I'm back with another merch post! Attached are some photos of the Gothic Architecture Blouse Poppy recently released in that time-limited merch drop she did earlier this year (2026). I have for your consideration a first-impression review and an inquiry. Photos included. TLDR for the review is also included at the end.

I'll start with the inquiry. If you'd like to skip to the review, just skip to the next paragraph. Does anyone have any tips or solutions for the issue seen in the photo of the full front of the blouse while it's on me? (Just to point out the obvious issue: while the shoulders and midriff fit well, the mid section of the shirt, which goes around the chest, is too tight. It's a common issue with button-up tops for individuals with larger chests. Basically, instead of the line of the buttons going down the front being in a straight line ((like it is shown in the photo of its full front while on the hanger)) the area between the two buttons, across the space where the largest measurement is, bows/gaps in a way that opens the shirt in that area, potentially exposing the chest or undergarments.) In the past, I've been known to secure the section that opens with a color-matched safety pin, which is not a great solution as it still creates an odd fabric stretching effect in that area. Plus, I'd like to have a nicer/more permanent fix for this particular blouse if possible. I am planning to post this section of this post to a sub for sewing, clothing tailoring, or something of the like, as well as here.

My first impression of the blouse (meaning I have tried it on but have not yet worn it as part of an outfit nor laundered it) is a little mixed:

First thing I noticed is that the graphic print on the collar is not centered, nor does it show well from a straight-on front view as the graphics do not go down to the front edges of the collar. They kind of stop over the top of the shoulders instead of extending down. There are some close-up photos of these details included.

Secondly, whatever fabric they chose to use for this item does not feel as soft or premium as all the other tops I've gotten from Poppy in years past. That said, I normally wear either undershirts like tank tops or baby tees, or I wear cotton graphic tees like you'd see at Hot Topic or Spencer's. Both those types of shirts tend to be machine washable/dryable, mostly cotton, and very soft. But they could not be considered "blouse" type shirts, and I don't actually think I own anything you would call a blouse. So, maybe to retain its more rigid/structured appearance, the stiffer material is necessary? I honestly don't know.

Third and last: the weight of the blouse is a little worrisome. It is VERY light and thin. I'm a person who associates heavier garments as being higher quality than lighter ones. I don't know if that is true or not; it is only my own perception on the matter.

It does occur to me that it may be intentionally thinner for layering purposes or for use in more mild or indoor (not hot nor cold) weather conditions.

Bonus fact: the shirt has no included/attached care instructions. I didn't screenshot the original item listing from the merch site, and it is no longer on the site at all. Hopefully, her merch team can inform me of its fabric type and recommended care guidelines when I email them to ask.

TLDR:

My initial rating for this blouse is 7.5/10. I do not regret the purchase, but it is not perfect. It honestly seems of a slightly lower quality than other tops I've purchased from Poppy in the past. Though, with those past purchased tops being graphic T-shirts and this one being a more structured blouse, it is hard to compare them 1:1. At the end of the day, it's a super cute design, and the graphic prints all seem premium.

I will try to make a follow-up post regarding my thoughts on the shirt after potentially modifying then wearing it out and laundering it. If I do any alterations, I will also make a post about that.
