The perfect way to describe a player getting hit in the balls

Masterly from Jonathan Pearce and Matthew Upson in the Portugal Croatia game. The initial description of mid-riff being corrected.

The little chuckle and then serious voice. Really enjoyed this.

The S*n adverts again?!

Did they not learn from the last one?

~Edit~ In the interests of clarity, this ad was a generic one for the nation’s favourite shit rag, not the original one Luke apologised for. I personally fail to see how it makes much difference who reads the adverts - the fact remains that Luke apologised and said the values of the two companies don’t align, yet weeks later I hear another advert for said company on the pod.

I’d be delighted to hear it was an accident - a genuine admin error. I would go back to listening to the pod and would happily eat all my words. Let’s hope that’s the case. If not, my point stands.

Prawn sandwich World cup

Given how much the commentators this world cup seem to want to push that Brad Pitt was there or woody Harrison or that dude from spiderman that used to be someone. Has this world cup been the most prawn sandwich brigade world cup ever. Rich people that care more about being seen there than actually whats on the pitch.

Roy Keane before punditry would of hated this

Hartlepool flag

During the first half of the game there was a flag visible in the stadium that had Hartlepool United across it with the slogan "Monkey Hangers" written on one side. Me and my partner were laughing that out of context that phrase written on an England flag displayed at a game against an African nation is just terrible optics. Sure enough it was taken down by the end of the first half. Somebody must have had a word right?

Why so much Japan love?

First off, I understand Pete loves any and all things Japan. But I don't really get the amount of respect Japan garners not only amongst the Ramblers but other pundits at large.

- Japan has never won a knockout match in the World Cup (even as a co-host in 2002).

- Japan has qualified for the main draw of the World Cup 8 times in a row, certainly impressive. But South Korea has qualified 11 times in a row and Australia has qualified every single time (4) since joining AFC.

- Japanese squad has 13 players in the top 5 leagues. But so does Sweden in the same group. And there are other squads with similar level of talent.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching their matches, especially the Brazil clash. But I just don't get the level of love and respect for this team. Is this just a case of being the best from a weak confederation? Or a case of rooting for someone different/exotic/underdog? What am I missing?

Canada Win!!!

Those that have followed Canada for years will know how far we have come. I mean not that long ago, we called up players unattached to a professional club, and the majority of the squad was second and third division players.

Also, we are now guaranteed a second hashish Darby, old world hash v new world!

Apple Podcasts sound issues?

Does anyone else have issues with the ramble on Apple Podcasts?

I normally skip the start of the show to get past the adverts but the dot doesn’t move along on the show timer sometimes then it eventually catches up and I have the show playing over itself so I can hear the show and the adverts at the same time. I usually have to close and reopen the app several times to get it corrected. Ultimately now I find myself listening to the ads because I feel it’s likely to break if I skip forward.

Does anyone else experience this? I listen to several podcasts and this is only happening with the ramble.

If it’s a wider issue than just my phone then hopefully the guys notice this post and can look in to it.
