The whaler
Just wanted to say that the harmony at the end of the whaler just hits so good. Super feel good, even with the somewhat melancholy theme.

Hi, the man who introduced me to Thrice told me that Dustin wrote Hurricane about his wife dying of cancer, and that they saw him talk about in an interview and that he cried, and they've seen videos of him crying while performing it.
while I just randomly did a lil internet dive on Dustin and it looks like he's married to the same person since 2002....
anybody know wtf the man who introduced me to Thrice was talking about?
I posted last week about attempting to flatten my warped copy of Horizons/West.
My method was using two pieces of concrete, heat them in the oven to ~125°F, then sandwich the record.
My first attempt failed. The record was so cupped that two flat surfaces weren’t enough.
to mitigate that, I cut little strips of felt and placed them around the perimeter of the record to overcompensate for the cupping. Test fit looked perfect.
Second attempt also failed, but for different, and permanent, reasons. 1, the one piece of concrete was too hot; and/or 2, I left it sandwiched for too long.
I now know how to do it, but at the expense of burning the record. You can see the burn marks in the photos, they look like solar flairs shooting in from the perimeter.
I was one of quite a few who received a really warped copy of Horizons/West. Customer service sent me a new copy thankfully, so I’m trying my hand at flattening it myself.
I work for a decorative concrete shop, so I heated up two pieces in my oven, sandwiched the record, then clamped it. I’ll check it later when I’m back home. Hopefully it works! 🤞🤓
