Ting Fiber - Anyone successfully replaced their Adtran ONT with GPON SFP+ Transceiver?

I'm looking to reduce plugs on the wall and not be limited to the physical 1GB ethernet port (I have 1gb service and lose a small bit of speed due to the overhead of the 1GB RJ45... first world problems I know). I do have a router with a 10G SFP+ port and I'd like to use a GPON transceiver like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Transceiver-Compatible-Mikro-TIK-9-953G-TX-9-953G-RX/dp/B0FT74L89Y

The instructions on pon.wiki are straight forward enough but I'm not sure if the adtran ONT does anything communicating upstream that the transceiver wouldn't be able to reproduce. Has anyone had luck with switching over to these?

Is Ting Mobile still in business?

I'm trying to get help with billing but can't seem to get a hold of anyone at Ting.
I've tried email and their "Live" chat but no response.
I just tried calling and was told their offices are closed.
Their web site says:

Mobile Customer Care is available Monday from 8am to 11pm (EST), 7 days a week.

It's 9:15 pm EST here

Edit

This is post is more or less to complain about the lack of support (grumble/whine).

The Billing issue is that they hadn't billed for the past three months. I was trying to find out why and pay them. I assumed that they would bend over backwards to help on this issue.
