Tonsil stones?
I just discoverd, these white spots on my tonsils. Do you think I have a lot or big tonsil stones? It's so disgusting...
When you gargle, are you getting to your tonsils?
I feel like I am not getting all the way back to mine without almost drinking the dang mouthwash! Anyone else?
First Time 😁
Basically the flair: is this a tonsil stone? There isn’t normally blood on it, only when I poke around at it.
Starting 3-4 days ago, I thought I had a sore throat. I happened to look in the mirror yesterday morning to see this. I got a chunk of it off, but there’s more still there that feels kind of like when my wisdom teeth were coming in. When I poke at it, the blood seems to come from the middle? I haven’t been able to get it out, even using the usual methods talked about (water syringe, cotton swabs, salt water). If I haven’t mentioned yet, it hurts. It doesn’t taste bad, and no one has mentioned bad breath to me yet.
In addition, I have a swollen lymph node on my jaw, and have been getting ear aches corresponding to the side of the tonsil stone. The lymph node happened a week before the sore throat, so I’m not sure if they’re related. Just thought I might throw that in as I know it can be sometimes related to tonsillitis.
Thank you for reading. Mostly I am just annoyed, and am trying to get an appointment with my family doctor (who never picks up the phone), but I appreciate anything anyone has to say.
are my tonsils beyond repair
i’ve been getting constant tonsil stones since i was maybe 12. i’m 21 now and my tonsils are so fucked up and there are so many holes i genuinely think there is nothing i can even consider other than getting them removed at this point, considering the state they’re in. i deal with them daily at this point with no relief and it’s infuriating. i am so unbelievably over it
Back teeth smell the same as my tonsil stones
When I rub my back teeth I noticed it smells just like the tonsil stones. It’s like a greasy film that stinks. I brush that whole area including the very backs of my gums and cheeks thoroughly and use mouthwash and it disappears for like 20 minutes, but my breath still will smell bad anyway, and the stinky film will reappear again. This is so nasty.
Massive stone but I can’t get it out
I’ve tried gargling warm water, using my throat and tongue to push it out, and I’ve dug around with a Qtip many times.
I can push some of my tonsils aside and see the whole thing, but as soon as I start to get in there with a Qtip it refuses to budge.
I only have one working elbow at the moment, my right elbow can’t bend all the way so it’s impossible to use both hands to get it out.
Are there any other tricks to get it out? I’m so tired of feeling it every time I swallow 😫
unique post op experience
i haven’t been able to find much information about this, and my ent doesn’t really know what’s going on either.
since my tonsillectomy in september last year, i have had horrible post nasal drip sort of stuff come out of my throat every other day. it causes a slight burning pain in my throat. 3 or so weeks ago i had an ablation surgery to try and get it to stop, but it seems to have gotten worse and i feel really stuffy now as well.
i included photos, please let me know if you have had any similar experiences and how you stopped it!!
Is this a stone? It’s hard to tell sometimes
My allergies have been bad and I always have some issues but normally on my other tonsil but on my other I have these white spots and I tried gargling salt water but no luck.
I don’t have anything to use to poke at to get it out if it is a stone and even then it’s a sensory issue for things to go back in the throat like that. It’s really hard for me to get a swab test done.
vacuum device doesn't work...frustrated
I just received this from Amazon
The stone will get sucked into the end of the device tube but will not pull it off, the stone comes back out of the tube when I pull. It is not as big as some being posted here. The stone seems to be encased in a sac or membrane so it is stuck to the mouth tissue pretty good. Is that normal? It looks smooth, not like the random nuggets I am seeing in these posts here. I even tried to soften the sac with vinegar beforehand. I wanted to post a photo but my tongue looks nasty, I am a smoker.
Please help me!
Hi I am a teenage female who’s been getting constant stones for about a year or so now. I first noticed them when I was constantly coughing them out, at first I would see one or 2 yearly but never as much as I do now. I struggle so much because my breath has been awful, and the stones are always stuck no matter what I do they won’t come out. If I mess with a tonsil to try to get it out, they always get irritated and inflamed making it deeper to get out and I’ve tried gargling salt for months daily but unfortunately they never go away. I went to the doctor’s to see if it’s possible to get them checked out, they said there’s nothing there but they’re obviously there! So I feel like I have no choice but to struggle with my breath even if I chew on gum and use mouthwash it reeks:(, it gives me so much social awareness that I don’t even wanna speak.
Hidden nugget!
I didn’t expect to find this cluster behind a flap I’d forgotten about! It’s normally my right that I get them in as well!
(It smelt baaaaaad) wish I had recorded
Tonsil stone due to throat infection
Been dealing with a throat infection, and saw this friend coming to say hello. Biggest one I’ve had.
Tonsil stones disappeared after I figured out I had Hashimotos - sharing in case it helps
I've had tonsil stones for a few years and couldn't figure out why. Earlier this year I ordered my own thyroid bloodwork and found out I have Hashimoto's (TPO antibodies were way out of range).
Since cutting out gluten, dairy, and most soy - not a single tonsil stone.
My best guess is my tonsils were constantly reacting to ongoing immune activity. Once I reduced the inflammatory triggers, they stopped.
Not a doctor, just someone who finally got answers by getting their own labs done. If you've had recurring tonsil stones with no clear cause, it might be worth looking into your immune/thyroid health.
Get your bloodwork done.
This is what happens if i dont floss or use mouthwash
Had a sore throat and decided to see if it was my tonsils or my throat throat was red but the i flared my tonsils and saw a tonsil stone didn’t think it was the cause of my sore throat turns out it was and it was bigger then expected. Video below
