Hello, I'm a 19yo dude whos looking for work to pursue and I think I'd really enjoy Tower Climbing jobs. I do a lot of rock climbing already so theres that.

I just don't actually know what jobs exist, like what types are there? Also, do I need to get any certifications or education?

What types of places would hire me too? I'm outside of the Sacramento area, more north, in California.

I wanna strive for climbing but I'd like to get decent pay (70k or higher) eventually when I gain enough experience.

Currently I'm in college but its just not as engaging as I'd like. Still planning on getting a degree though just because my family wants me to. So if theres any degrees that would help, that'd be really helpful!

I’m looking to get into this field and have few questions.

Do big companies like Ericsson pay more?

Is it easy to get hired green? I kind of need a job fast.

Does getting an authorized climber/rescuer certification help get hired faster or is it just a waste of money?

I only found old posts on this and from all my sources the info is debatable so I would appreciate any info from those who have current or general knowledge. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been in and out of the tower industry for a while. I’ve tried switching careers a few times, but none of them really worked out, and I’ve always ended up staying with tower work longer than anything else.
I recently started with another tower company because I was trying to have more stability and be home on the weekends for my relationship. That relationship ended, and now I’m realizing I’d rather take advantage of the opportunity to travel and see where this career can take me.
I still enjoy tower work, but I’d like to try something different within the industry. Broadcast has been catching my attention, and I’m also interested in other types of climbing, maintenance, or specialty work that keeps you on the road.

I’m (27M) looking to make a career change, but I’m not 100% sure what direction I want to go yet.

I’ve been looking into wind turbine and cell tower jobs because they seem like something I’d actually enjoy. I like working with my hands and getting paid to travel sounds pretty fun.

Doing research, I’ve seen everything from being able to get hired by a company that’ll train you to needing an associate degree.

For anyone working in either field, what’s actually the best way to get into it? Is going to school worth it, or would I be wasting my time and money?

Also curious what the work is actually like day to day and whether you’d recommend it to someone getting into the industry at 27.

How do I get into being a tower climber or a turbine worker? I can never get a full on answer. I live in southern Indiana near Louisville, Kentucky and there are no jobs like that around here. How do I get into it?
