Mtb Fixie by Max
The Redline Monocog seems to be the best mtb fixed option out there. Here is Max Jackson’s whip.
Would you trust a 24 spoke wheel off-road?
Not talking about jump lines here, but maybe some rooty singletrack. Looking at the Ritchey Comp Zeta. I’m new to anything but mtbs but have been expanding my comfort zone (and stable) recently with new builds and restomods. Am looking to give new glory to a 90’s hybrid frame, and am considering new wheels this time. Rim brakes and qr’s in a wider profile 700c are darn hard to find. I guess the move to wider rims coincided with the move to disc brakes. To top it off I have a 126 old (but am comfortable pushing 130, would try 135 in a pinch). But I digress.
I like these ritchey wheels except they may be too lightly constructed for an atb. They boast of their robustness but idk.
Also any general tips for choosing solid go anywhere wheels that fit older road parameters?
State 4130
First time not running freewheel on this bike, I am happy with the conversion from drops bars with 2 brakes as I had plenty of control this way and also the bike lost lots of weight. It’s my lightest bike at this point and it feels great!
40 raddler rear, 44 raddler front, and 40/17 ratio.
Unfortunately the tires measure closer to 35 and 41 for some reason, but they’re still very comfy and I actually set a new speed record for this route I was unable to achieve on any of my mountain bikes.
More goods
Got a double fixed hub, a 19 and a 20t cog and some Panaracer GK Cranberries for my birthday. Now I need to get different valves.
Struggling to find wheels
Not quite a tracklocross wheelset, but I'm building up a squid bikes so ez v3.
I want some 700c, tubeless ready, rim brake wheels, that can fit up to 48mm tyres.
100mm front, 135mm back.
Realise this might require a custom build. Any pointers? Thanks for the help
Tyres
What tyres are y’all running on the rear? I’m running Schwalbe CX Comps which are cheap and cheerful, handling anything I throw at them just fine, EXCEPT I’ve burned through 3 rears in 1000km.
I’m riding brakeless so I do a lot of skidding, but my ratio (51x20) should give me 40 skid patches (ambidextrous).
Any recommendations greatly appreciated as these things are almost single use at this stage. TIA!
My current set up! How do you think?
Im riding ardently silhouette 57.5 size. ( its a same frame with Pizzicato unbreakable 1, but with much more color)
Nitto B809 riser bars(680 i guess) with Vans waffle grips and Ali express bar ends.
Kcnc stem 100mm with -5 degree, i like it a bit of up degree then horizontal.
Richey Wcs seat post 270mm with bontrager verse comp.
H+ son archtype 32h with dura ace hubs and kenda 35c.
Ardently silver crank set with 44t chain ring chained up to 18t cog through kmc chains. ( gear ratio is 2.44 i guess.
Kcnc and nitto is feather light!
