microdosing ftm

I'm gonna be starting hrt on gel in september and one small packet of that is 50mg of testosterone, but I'm thinking that maybe I wanna allow my body to adjust and to make sure my results are slower so that people around me could also adjust and changes won't be as visible immediately so I wanna attempt like half of a packet instead, 25mg

Is that reasonable and should I attempt that kinda scheme? Or should I just do the 50mg

gynecologist and diy T

This is more of a rant than anything with a couple of questions on what I should do, if there's somewhere between I could post this lmk but the ftm sub has a "don't talk about diy" warning

I'm a minor still, my mom scheduled a gynecologist appointment (scary) and I'm forced to go. It's next month. Unfortunate part of this is I was literally JUST ABOUT to start T. She wants me to get my down there inspected which I'm highly against but again I have zero choice. She wants me on birth control, which I'm all for but how would I go about asking for progestin only birth control without telling a doctor "I'm about to start hrt without my mothers permission"

She has insisted on being in the room since she doesn't want something bad to happen to me, and she knows I'm trans but is very against me transitioning. I am not in danger of anything except losing my T if she finds out. I could theoretically wait the last 4 months before I'm 18 but fuck man. It's right there. I wanna get that ball rolling as soon as possible.

Agender transmasc dude looking for advice (esp about royal jelly efficacy)

Hi fellas!

I'm agender, AFAB, and kinda over medicine-based hormone adjustments after spending far too long (medically and emotionally) on Depo until finally getting my hysterectomy (ovaries still contained within tho). I'm also on a bunch of meds already, so hesitant about adding T to that...not completely ruling it out, but really just looking for a more minimal route, esp since I'm not looking for major body changes.
So, I'm hoping for some general or specific advice.

Masc changes I'd like to see:
- slightly lower or more textured voice (would love some voice-training recs! mostly have found transfem resources for voice training)
- smaller breasts (currently already improving due to active weight loss journey, also currently fairly successful with transtape)
- developing sideburns would be glorious (I've occasionally used cheap microblading eyebrow pens to add them, but they get pretty smudged - would love tips! I work actively outside and have no makeup knowledge)
- more masc jawline, less round cheeks? (anyone had actual results with mewing?)
- more muscle and more visibility of said muscle

Possible masc changes I don't want if avoidable:
- higher libido or irritability
- bottom growth/labia changes
- beard/mustache growth

I don't mind body hair one way or another.

So, I was wondering if there was something I could do to influence some more minimal changes in myself, especially without surgery, implants, HRT, etc.
Taking royal jelly supplements seems like it may have some mild influence here - has anyone had experience with that?

Many thanks for any of your advice or feedback!

If I do this, will I go to jail

Living in the US where it's a schedule 3 drug. I really want this, and I don't think I can afford it through doctors. If I'm ordering online what happens? Do they check? Do they know? It's going to my address will I be arrested? Fined? What is the likelihood of any of that? I've tried to research it but everything just says I will because they'll look.

Are higher T levels that bad?

I'm 7-8months on T, 15.11. I recently upped my dose to 70mg again (started on 70, then 65, then 55 and now 70 again) and I havent gotten my levels checked, but based on previous tests my testosterone should be ~900 at the lowest point. That means it should be like 1100ish at peak? But I feel great, my mood is fine, I have more muscle and I feel like I pass better. Only negatives are a bit more water retention and slightly oilier skin I think, but nothing too bad. Can I keep it like this or should I lower my dose a bit again?

Aromatisation?

Can someone explain how aromatisation works, I only know if you inject too much T it can turn into other hormones. Currently doing 1.2ml monthly enanthate and someone has told me not to do monthly?

My voice is relatively deep n I’ve been trying to talk more like a cis guy than a woman and it’s a bit hard. Any tips on guy talk ?

How long would this stuff last?

I’ve been recommended this gel, I’m assuming since it’s 4% then one pump a day would be enough. If it’s 100ml does anyone know how much use I’d get out of it?

Starting T slowly

I've been on T for more than a year so I'm mostly wondering about the best advice for other people, (although I guess I could increase my dose from 50mg lol)

I saw one guy said that he started on a deliberately low dose and then increased, is there anything to this or should I ignore it?

Lmk if you have questions

Ayo

I'm a mental health nurse irl and so am trained with IM and subcut injections, including proper techniques, adapting for people who have difficulty with the normal techniques, safety, related healthcare things.

Just wanted to offer, if anyone has questions about injection technique, how to adapt things, using the right equipment, disposing of sharps safely, etc, I may be able to answer! This is ongoing, even if this post gets old, and you can message me instead of commenting if you're more comfortable with that.

I trained and am practicing in ~~TERF island~~ the UK so if it's about what resources are available, I can help more if you're UK based, but things like injection and safe disposal are the same most places.

Experiences with Microdosing?

Hi!

I'm currently doing some research into whether or not I'd like to get on T, I'm transmasc/nonbinary but I prefer to present more androgynously. I've been considering microdosing on testosterone now that I could afford to DIY it, but I don't see a lot of resources for someone who isn't trying to get their T to the levels of the average cis man.

Are there any other folks in here who are microdosing? What dosage/type of testosterone do you take and how often? What have your results been like? I'm just very curious as to what other people have experienced if anyone here is willing to share it, or if they could share some resources/articles/studies I haven't managed to find on my own.

when did menstruation end for you?

ive heard of people saying it’ll stop within six months, but i’ve also heard of instances where people never bled again after their first injection.

i’m a little concerned, since i’m around roughly 2.5 months of testosterone and haven’t seen it vanish since—should i be worried?

Undecanoate (mis)information

(Image 1 from lowtadviser.com)

(Image 2 from apumn.com)

Testosterone undecanoate (I will be referring to it mostly as TU or test u) is a long-acting ester of testosterone than can be injected much less frequently than other known esters. It can be expensive but it’s a very promising option for those that struggle with injections. Recently I noticed what seems to be some misinformation about TU from Diyhrt.info. Don’t get me wrong, that website is mostly great, but it has some misleading text about the test u ester that’s kind of frustrating and could lead to trans men doing their injections in very ineffective ways. Its claim that it should be injected monthly does not seem to be backed up by any science and I cannot find any pharmaceutical companies recommending to use their product this way. It’s half life is much too long for it to make sense to use it like this. It should be injected every 10-14 weeks in doses of 750-1000mg. Here’s my evidence to back this up.

From drugs.com:

“Testosterone Undecanoate: 750 mg (3 mL) IM injection followed by 750 mg (3 mL) injected after 4 weeks, then 750 mg (3 mL) every 10 weeks thereafter”

From a pubmed study on the efficacy of testosterone undecanoate:

“750 mg testosterone undecanoate depot injection administered intramuscularly at 0, 4 and 14 weeks achieves serum testosterone levels in the normal range during a 10-week dosing interval”

From medicinenet.com:

“The recommended dose of testosterone undecanoate is 750 mg (3 ml) intramuscularly; followed by 750 mg (3 ml) intramuscularly after 4 weeks, then 750 mg (3 ml) intramuscularly every 10 weeks thereafter.”

From an information packet about Nebido (brand of injectable testosterone undecanoate):

“Nebido (1 ampoule / vial corresponding to 1000 mg testosterone undecanoate) is injected every
10 to 14 weeks.”

But for some reason, citing no evidence, diyhrt.info claims:

“These typically contain 1000 mg, which is usually too high, leading to excessive levels and large fluctuations … Because testosterone undecanoate builds up slowly, an initial loading dose of up to 2.5× your regular dose can be used to reach stable levels faster. For example, if your intended dose is 300 mg every three weeks, your initial loading dose may be 600 mg (300 × 2.5).”

They only recommend 150-400mg every 21-31 days, and I think their justification for this is that it leads to less severe fluctuations. Which does not seem to be true.

I cannot find any reliable source stating that more frequent injections of test u results in more stable levels, which is what diyhrt.info claims. In fact, the data seems to show that less frequent injects of long-acting esters (like test u) result in more stable hormone levels over long periods of time because they don’t peak weekly. It takes several weeks for your levels to fully peak on undecanoate. You can inject so much of it at once s because it releases extremely slowly over time.

Also. That’s not how loading doses work on TU. Like. At all. How “loading doses” work with test u is that you take 750-1000mg as your initial dose, and then inject the same amount again 4 weeks later. Then every 10 weeks you inject the same dose. It helps make your levels initially stabilize much more quickly. The only time I’ve ever heard of someone on TU change their dose (for loading dose) was making the loading dose 1000mg and injecting 750mg 4 weeks later, then 750mg at intervals of every 10 weeks like normal. The loading dose for TU should not be 2.5x the regular 750mg dose I think it’s crazy to recommend that. I can find no medical literature recommending what diyhrt.info recommends here.

And. 300 x 2.5 ≠ 600. I don’t want to make any accusations but I’m starting to wonder if this section was written by an LLM or something. This is just so easy to fact check. I have never seen this website and information source distribute so much misinformation. I want to stress that this is very unusual for them and they should remain a trusted site in the community. But this ain’t it, chief.

I don’t know how to get in contact with whoever is running diyhrt.info, but if you are reading this, I have a lot of respect for what you do and I apologize for any rudeness in what I’ve said. I just want people to be safe and receive accurate information about the things they’re putting in their bodies. Thank you for everything you do. I really hope you change this because this misinformation may be causing trans men to incorrectly dose themselves. It would also be nice if in the future the website could add studies that they got their information from so that we know what is written has some empirical evidence.

Thank you for your time.

Help Navigating DIY Websites

I’ve recently decided to try and do DIY however the one link I was able to find for a website left me terribly confused. Is there someone who could walk me through ordering from a website or even just explaining how they work?
