MinUI Zero: Same simple MinUI, but with far less heat
The heat was the thing that bothered me most about using my TrimUI, so I forked MinUI and focused almost entirely on reducing unnecessary power use without sacrificing performance.
MinUI Zero includes:
- Automatic CPU scaling based on whether each game is actually holding full speed
- An optional one-time Optimize CPU tool that safely tunes voltage for your specific chip
- GPU-dark menus, disabled radios/LEDs, and deep sleep
- Improved frame pacing, smoother audio, and about one frame less input lag
- No CPU settings to manage
Measured on my hardware:
- 2–3°C / 4–5°F cooler than stock MinUI’s default clocking in games
- 4–5°C / 7–9°F cooler than MinUI’s 2.0GHz Performance mode
- Optimize CPU produced a 3°C / 5°F lower temperature rise in a controlled pinned-clock test
- Around 7.5 hours of Game Boy battery life, up from roughly 6 hours before tuning
The goal is not to add more features. It is to keep MinUI simple, cool, smooth, and dependable.
Same speed. Less heat. Zero tinkering.
I’d love feedback from Brick and Smart Pro owners, especially around temperatures, battery life, and game compatibility.
