MinUI Zero: Same simple MinUI, but with far less heat

The heat was the thing that bothered me most about using my TrimUI, so I forked MinUI and focused almost entirely on reducing unnecessary power use without sacrificing performance.

MinUI Zero includes:

  • Automatic CPU scaling based on whether each game is actually holding full speed
  • An optional one-time Optimize CPU tool that safely tunes voltage for your specific chip
  • GPU-dark menus, disabled radios/LEDs, and deep sleep
  • Improved frame pacing, smoother audio, and about one frame less input lag
  • No CPU settings to manage

Measured on my hardware:

  • 2–3°C / 4–5°F cooler than stock MinUI’s default clocking in games
  • 4–5°C / 7–9°F cooler than MinUI’s 2.0GHz Performance mode
  • Optimize CPU produced a 3°C / 5°F lower temperature rise in a controlled pinned-clock test
  • Around 7.5 hours of Game Boy battery life, up from roughly 6 hours before tuning

The goal is not to add more features. It is to keep MinUI simple, cool, smooth, and dependable.

Same speed. Less heat. Zero tinkering.

I’d love feedback from Brick and Smart Pro owners, especially around temperatures, battery life, and game compatibility.

Trimui Brick Hammer Pro worth it if you already own the Brick Hammer?

Just as the title says, do you guys think the Hammer Pro would be worth it if you already own the Brick Hammer, the added joysticks look nice and the price isn’t too bad, just curious to hear what you guys think.

Fast Forward and Savestates don't work (GBA)

I have a TrimUI Brick with Knulli Scarab. When I used Knulli 1.0 there was a fast forward funktion. I missed that on Knulli 2.0 and then I upgraded to Knulli Scarab. Now I tried to fix that so I searched for solutions.

First try was to change the controlls (maby fast forward wasn't even binded to a button) but that didn't work.

Second, I tried to change to another Core because I heared that this solved the problem for some people. mGBA is the default core for Gba and I never changed that setting. I changed it to gpsp and fast forward workes there. But the new save states I made since updating to knulli 2.0 weren't able to load there and it would really suck if I had to start from there.

To fix the Problem from the save states, I tried to change the .srm file to an sav. file becuase that is the default file type for gpsp. Now I could'nt even start from the old ones and it created a new .srm file.

I am out of Ideas. Do anyone of you know a solution? Being not able to use fast forward (for skiping the anoying dialogues) really takes the fun away from one of the games I play.

Gifting a Smart Pro. What firmware to use?

I just ordered a Smart Pro and plan to load it up with games and give it as a gift. What OS would you recommend as being easy enough for me to set it and forget it so he can just recieve the gift and play without having to constantly tweak? One post recommends crossmix and says spruce sucks. Then one says crossmix is no good and I need knulli....option paralysis has me totally stumped.

Trimui Smart Pro or Trimui Smart Pro S

I want to buy my first retro console and I was looking at these 2.
How is the support on custom firmware, as far as I know that the old one is better supported but I am not that into retro handhelds so I'm not sure

I want to mostly play mostly GBA, GBC, NES, SNES and some DS, PS1, N64, PSP, Dreamcast
I also want to play a lot of the Portmaster games like Balatro, Stardew Valley, TMNT, Slay the Spire, Dead Cells...

I can get the Smart Pro for 55€ and the Smart Pro S for 65€
Which one would you guys recommend?

Best OS for Smart Pro S

I loved NextUI on brick and stock OS UI on Smart Pro S. But unfortunately I must use SprudeOS to have full support for portmaster and other emulators.

Can you recommend other os worth considering?

Trimui Brick screen keeps blinking

Left my brick in my backpack and the battery eventually died. Charged it and now when I turn on the screen it keeps blinking. The screen becomes stable when I connect a charger to it. I assumed it was a battery issue, but the screen stays solid and stable when turning on the device and doesn't start blinking until I get to the main menu.

The video is a recording of my device without the sd card, I use MinUi and this happens with it without the sd card inserted. Took out the back panel and the battery looks fine.

Anyone got any advice on this? Or maybe point me to where to get a new battery?

TrimUI Brick Pro Unboxing and Gameplay!

This is the less expensive Linux version! Review units have been shipping out. Retail units are expected to ship next week according to Trimustore.

The Pro U is the Android handheld with all of the controversy. It's easier to think of this one as the Brick XL.

D-pad getting squeaky

My Brick had seen plenty of usage, and with time, the d-pad started to get squeaky in some directions, mostly "up". Is this a known issue? Any fixes?
