dallas television ratings from back in the day still blow my mind

I have been on a full Dallas kick the past two weeks and I need people to talk about this with.
Started rewatching the original run because a clip popped up on my feed and now I'm three seasons deep again. was looking at old dallas television ratings from back when it was basically appointment viewing for the entire country, and it's wild how big that show actually was.
The TNT reboot gets way less love than it deserves honestly. I remember checking dallas television ratings when that came back and people acted like it flopped but the numbers were not nearly as bad as the discourse made it seem.
What gets me is how differently shows get measured now. Nobody's counting live viewership the same way anymore so comparing old dallas television ratings to anything current feels almost pointless.
JR Ewing still lives rent free in my head and I refuse to apologize for it.
Does anyone else still rewatch this or was I just an outlier growing up in a house obsessed with this show?

anyone know jump the shark meaning after these reality TV twists?

I've been catching up on a few reality shows last week. I keep seeing people throw around jump the shark phrase especially after wild production twists. Some of these seasons feel like producers are adding drama just to keep people watching. That's why I started wondering if this is actually what jump the shark meaning is supposed to describe?

What reality show made you think, yep, that's when it jumped the shark?

Worst reality tv show from the past few decades

Was wondering what would the worst one. Modern trash reality TV is weak. Everyone today is just trying to protect their brand and farm Instagram followers. If you want to see actual, unchecked industry-grade cruelty and frankenstein experiemtns, you have to look at the peak 2000s Fox era.

Network executives were greenlighting unhinged, dystopian psychological experiments just to see how far they can push it. Sure they doing something of the sort nowadays, though differently lol

Two shows I think would be the contestants:
The Swan from2004
Production locked up insecure women, carved their faces up with extreme plastic surgery without letting them see a mirror, and forced them into a pageant to compete over who was "least ugly". Top that dystopian setup

I Wanna Marry "Harry" from 2014
Producers weaponized psychological gaslighting to trick twelve women into believing a random redheaded guy was an actual British royalty just to watch them fall for a delusion on national TV. Like some Squid game elite ball torture chamber lmao

What do you ladies and gents think? Did I hit a bullseye with these?

Does Dr Phil purposefully provoke his guests or do they do it themselves?

In case the title gets cut off I will repeat the topic.. does Dr Phil purposefully provoke his guests or do they do it themselves?

I know this lady in the video example I added has been famous for a while however I only recently found out about her.. There were some other guests that were quite unhinged from older seasons like a guy proclaiming himself as "Sexy Vegan" but it feels like the production crew and especially the host try to tilt their guests for sensational footage using their background and weaknesses. Especially if a person is clearly mentally unwell I find it sort of odd how they are used for ratings like that..

Am I wrong? In all fairness, I do like what Dr Phil is producing yet I sort of feel mixed about the people that find themselves on his stage

Did anyone else search how to cancel peacock subscription way too late?

I only wanted Peacock for one reality show. I forgot all about it until I saw another monthly charge this morning

Now I'm wondering how many people keep paying just because they forget after the finale. Has this happened to anyone else?

I played starstruck up to 18 episodes and didn’t play 19. So I see there is 27 episodes out now should I start again or wait until all the episodes are out? Just curious as I am conflicted now

Hayu Nightmare!

Is there anywhere else, other than Hayu, I can watch the Housewives, The Valley, Next Gen NYC, etc in the UK? I originally watched them through NowTV, but their contract has expired, so I moved to Hayu. I can't watch anything without constant playback errors.

is awful plastic surgery and Linda Evans a myth?

i was watching old dynasty clips and ended up reading posts about awful plastic surgery and Linda Evans. photos people use are all over the place. they do look like bad lighting or old screenshots, but the comments act like they're absolute proof, but tbf, she doent really look that bad to me lol, ive seen worse...

Has Linda Evans ever actually talked about this, or is the awful plastic surgery Linda Evans discussion mostly just internet rumors?

Wedding in a week

I’ve been approached as main participant in a new Dutch reality TV pilot called** *Wedding in a Week

It’s a completely new format that has never been made before, so some of the details are still being developed. But this is roughly how it would work:
I would be the main candidate, meaning people could apply specifically for the chance to date—and potentially marry—me.
With guidance from psychologists and relationship experts, I would select two potential partners I think are most compatible with me.

During a 24 hour date I would get to know both of the potential partners. I get to choose one of the two candidates to really continue the experiment with.

I would spend the rest of the week with that person.

During that time, we would receive intensive coaching, do relationship-building exercises and explore whether we could realistically work as a couple.

At the end of the week, we would both separately decide whether we wanted to go through with the wedding. Neither of us would be obligated to say yes: the wedding would only happen if we both chose it.

If we did decide to get married, the programme would pay for the wedding and honeymoon.

I have done reality television before, the idea of getting professional coaching during the whole process is very appealing to me. But it is a pilot.

On the one hand, getting married after a week is obviously wild. On the other hand, the applicants would be signing up specifically for me, I would choose between them myself, and we could both still walk away at the end.

What do you think of the format? Would you watch it? And if you were approached as the main candidate, would you actually consider doing it?
