r/uBlockOrigin

"block element" no appears when I do right click

using FireFox 152.0.4 and ublock origin.

strange behavior in YouTube, in the main page or when i search for a video, the "block element" function of the adblocker no appears if I right-click in any video but yes in other website areas.

only works selecting with left click the title of the video and after right click in the video..

i dont know if is Firefox issue or the extension

this happens also with the shorts of the main page.. what is this :S

Global rule to block "Sign up Now" type pop-ups?

These have been getting really bad lately, sometimes popping up every time you move your mouse. I know this type of pop up is exploiting built in code that uses the "are you sure you want to leave" function that's supposed to save you if you accidentally try to close a page with a form partially filled out etc. I think they used to be called pop-unders. Even worse, most of them now have some invisible layer that breaks the site completely if you block the window. There doesn't seem to be anything in any filter lists that deal with this garbage.

Bypass for twitter/x age verification prompt

This filter removes X/Twitter's age verification prompt by replacing the AgeVerificationPrompt text in XHR responses.

Add it to My filters:

x.com##+js(trusted-replace-xhr-response, /AgeVerificationPrompt/g, , url:/TweetDetail|TweetResultByRestId|UserTweets/ method:GET)

EDIT: I noticed that the filter above doesn't work in the user feed. It's been a while since I checked uBO's syntax, so I'm not sure why, but this approach might work better:

!#if !cap_html_filtering
x.com##+js(trusted-replace-xhr-response, /AgeVerificationPrompt/g, , url:/TweetDetail|TweetResultByRestId|UserTweets/ method:GET)
!#else
||x.com/*/TweetDetail$xhr,1p,replace=/AgeVerificationPrompt//g
||x.com/*/TweetResultByRestId$xhr,1p,replace=/AgeVerificationPrompt//g
||x.com/*/UserTweets$xhr,1p,replace=/AgeVerificationPrompt//g
!#endif

EDIT2: I take a look in uBO doc and I updated the scriptlet to use a regex in the first parameter, replacing AgeVerificationPrompt with /AgeVerificationPrompt/g and added method:GET. The scriptlet filter should now work without problems.

Tested on x.com. It removes the age verification prompt when viewing tweets marked as adult content.

NOTE: Since this relies on the current response structure and endpoint names, it may stop working if X changes either in the future.

Firefox desktop web, ublock origin affects reddit ui components

Ublock origin version 1.72.0

For last 3-4 days, I noticed that reddit UI components are not doing anything.

The problem is almost any action which involves opening an window dialog/ prompt, only makes the UI blurry and darker, without any action to trigger.

Examples of options with problems, wiki editing pages, sub-reddit post/comments settings, profile options, even dark light mode toggle.

https://preview.redd.it/chcjwkfif7bh1.png?width=538&format=png&auto=webp&s=fc34f810f3872854ecce11aebbb9d43dc8697f5a

First, I disabled all extensions except ublock

https://preview.redd.it/ldxr6yzkf7bh1.png?width=540&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0f8b4244cb47ee34080bbfc57a78567cde6e7fe

Trying to use display mode button

https://preview.redd.it/p2piw08nf7bh1.png?width=1652&format=png&auto=webp&s=7a2becdb75661c13984bc5c2e1f020b6e1219fec

With ublock origin enabled, the blurry and darker overlay only appears as I said early.

https://preview.redd.it/vfdf84hqf7bh1.png?width=1673&format=png&auto=webp&s=3feccc4ec6902892db87cc789f7db8a8908c0da0

Without ublock origin enabled, the mode dialog appears.

This behavior is happening on the options I said before. I posted on r/bugs this situation, but without knowing ublock may be the guilty extension here. I thought reddit messed up. Still can be available that reddit messed up and ublock now brake the reddit options.

I cleared the cache and no use. Behaves the same.

uBlock Origin vs. uBlock Origin Lite

As a practical matter to web browsing end-users, how much of a difference is there between using uBlock Origin Lite on Google Chrome versus the ad blocking performance of when the full uBlock Origin was used?

Removing Gemini and "Upgrade" From Gmail?

Tried using the picker but for some reason it just selects the whole screen no matter how intricately I try to click it. Worked slightly better on Google Docs although there's a big white space where the button was now. Any help appreciated! Thanks so much.

filter YouTube videos with "made with AI" badge

I'm looking for a way to completely hide videos labeled with an AI badge. I don't want them to appear in search results, sidebar recommendations, or anywhere else on the site. If I happen to click a link to one, I'd like it to display a blank page instead of the video.

example:

⚠️ Security Warning: A deceptive "uBl0ck" themed fake DNS provider is hijacking user trust

Hi everyone,

I wanted to report a critical brand-hijacking and security issue that is actively targeting mobile users looking for the official extension.

There is a service operating under a fake "uBl0ck" domain (ending in -dns.com) that uses the exact logo and name to capture user traffic. When confronted on GitHub, the owner openly admitted to this tactic, stating that they created it because mobile users searching for the extension end up with nothing.

Here are the structural risks:

* **Brand Exploitation:** They have zero affiliation with gorhill or the official team, yet they use the branding to build unearned trust.

* **Closed-Source Backend:** The backend infrastructure that handles all DNS-over-TLS (DoT) metadata is a complete black box.

* **Malicious Detections:** The domain has already been flagged as suspicious/malicious by multiple security vendors on VirusTotal.

* **Lack of Transparency:** When asked for architectural transparency on GitHub, the project owner immediately closed the issue and resorted to personal attacks.

Routing entire network traffic through an unverified, closed-source resolver riding on a hijacked brand name is a massive risk. I am sharing this so the community and maintainers are aware.

***

Update: I will post the exact GitHub issue link and VirusTotal screenshots in the comments below to ensure this warning doesn't get automatically filtered by spam bots.

uBO can work on Chrome 150 if you already have it installed and have the flag enabled (for now)

In case you have updated to Chrome version 150 and had your uBO forcibly disabled, here is a simple step to get it back given that:

- You already have uBO installed

- You have the right flag enabled and it is working before you updated to Chrome 150

- Your browser does not have policy restricting inspect element

All you have to do, is go to the extention page, press F12, or Ctrl+Shift+I to open inspect element

https://preview.redd.it/2w6odwqp5nah1.png?width=102&format=png&auto=webp&s=25e934266688871cfdafb78f28922aa355b7e3f7

Press this button, hover it over to the button until it looks like this (Edit: The button is the one with arrow pointing to the square thing)

https://preview.redd.it/i2bmoiwq5nah1.png?width=448&format=png&auto=webp&s=416426425ff37ca35db7a3aadfc55f2779f4e279

Look to the right, and see that it is highlighted on something like this:

https://preview.redd.it/s9hzacxs5nah1.png?width=479&format=png&auto=webp&s=82b0c4c5f1eb3a794eda8ececbc8d1dde3e94870

Now click the triangle thing to expand, scroll down and you should see something like this:

https://preview.redd.it/42s9c2ax5nah1.png?width=455&format=png&auto=webp&s=056423f77d2ce953793390b6b3cf3ef8c9cf52de

Find the "disabled" and double click on it, then delete it. Now the button should be clickable, click on it and activate the extention, uBO should work normally

But seriously, just get firefox at this point, this will probably be completely dead when Chrome 151 releases. This is not worth it

This is working as of version 150.0.7871.47, however I suspect there is some sort of AB testing, since out of the 3 computers I updated chrome on, only 1 got forcibly disabled, so dont be surprised if this doesn't work.

Removing Gemini and "Upgrade" from Google Docs?

Thanks for your help on the ublock codes to get rid of this on Gmail! They're on Google Docs too, and while I can get them physically with my picker, it leaves a huge white space behind and I'm sure there's a better way to do it. Thanks in advance.

How to delete uBlockOrigin for android?

I Installed uBlockOrigin on android phone and my insurance driving rewards tracker stopped working. Everything else on the insurance app is working perfectly. It will even record my car trip and try to process, but gives up after 2 days. I've spent hours talking with the company's techs; all the settings are perfect, great phone version, etc. How to delete it to see if uBlock is causing the problem? I deleted uBlockOrigin from my laptop Chrome extensions to no avail.

iOS 26.5.2 ublock origin extension not blocking ads

All permission granted via iOS settings and ublock extension settings set to optimal. Ads are still showing up on websites. If I manually click “Turn on content blockers” they disappear for that specific website, but this is disabled by default on all websites for some reason. Is there a way to universally enable content blockers on all website? Is this required for the extension to function as intended?

Ad-Shield on weeronline.nl

URL: https://www.weeronline.nl/

Appears to be a new method of this malware getting past uBo. This time, it appears to be hiding in .JS files on the site.

Tested on a default install of uBlock Origin, the page gets loaded with ads. On my usual config, I get the forced redirect.

Does not happen if you completely disable 1st party JS.
