One of the fastest Aquarium Business opening->crashout->closing I've ever witnessed
I introduce you to Fishers of Men Aquatics. An aquarium/fish store business that recently opened up in May of 2026.
First thing I noticed was it is heavily advertised as a Christian/Faith based aquarium store. I’ve never seen a fish store opening up based on Christianity but I guess there’s a first for everything.
The man was blasting Christianity into every post and comment. Not a problem to me, I'm just here to see the fish stock and maybe be able to shop at a new promising LFS!
But the man was running two businesses and struggled to keep the aquarium one running consistently. Poor guy if only he had some help. I will gladly support him in this hobby since it's hard to find LFS that provide quality fish. Every week the schedule was changing but he finally locked in a consistent business schedule for customers. Sweet!
He was struggling but continued posting his faith to keep him going. Props for staying headstrong.
And then something happened that sparked the beginning of the end for this Fish Store owner. Out of exhaustion he had left his wallet in his car with all his cash from business transactions and someone opened the unlocked car and stole it. He makes a post saying how there's just too many things to handle and is even wanting to sell both businesses and get out all together. It has been 1 month of the store opening.
Then in June a post pops up of the store owner calling all local breeders to contact him and that he no longer wants to deal with wholesalers. I wonder what that's all about. Must have had an issue with his supplier.
Well what do you know, he soon posts a screen shot of him burning bridges with his wholesaler and effectively blacklisting himself from working with any other wholesaler at all. He blames them for selling him terrible quality fish which he then sells to customers. He closes the store officially but will continue to breed as an individual and sell by appointment.
Understandable. Wholesalers often have terrible quality fish and poor conditions of fish husbandry so I don't blame him for being upset with suppliers always shipping out terrible quality that dies within a week.
But then suddenly he makes another post saying he doesn't exist as a business anymore or individual breeder. He won't be selling fish at all! Turns out he killed multiple tanks while doing water changes. Multiple tanks of dead fish after his water change. Did he not dechlorinate?! The man immediately blames the city for doing something to the water that specifically killed all his fish. I don't even think his tanks were cycled.
So maybe the wholesaler wasn't to blame afterall. Maybe the man in the fish store simply didn't know how to properly take care of fish at a large scale before starting his business. Maybe he was simply too exhausted and forgot to do basic things such as dechlorinating water. Either way, I was starting to get a bit concerned doing business with the man. There were just too many red flags and he seemed very unstable and incompatible to work with.
The victim mentality and always blaming someone else for problems he himself created.
But if that weren't enough red flags for you maybe these posts of him hating on gay people, being racist, and a white supremist will do it for you.
But it's just a little bit of hate that's ok right? Won't anyone feel bad for this guy?
Sure he comments that gay people are bad for bringing nothing but suicide rates and depression into society but here he is being depressed. In the closet maybe?
And that is the end of the story. I watched it all unfold in a month how one Christian based fish store owner in the south opened up a promising LFS but quickly revealed himself to be a homophobic racist, and white supremist with a victim mentality that brought upon his own destruction and ruin while blaming everyone around him.
