Issue with assigment and technical error

Hey :)

This is my first year with Unisa doing my Honours. I had an assignment due on 13 August.
I submitted the assignment on 30 July.

When submitting, I usually re-download the file from the Unisa portal to check if it was working.

I submitted early as I work full-time and had some major projects at work coming up that I knew would take a ton of time to complete too.

Last week, my Lecturer emailed to say that the file I uploaded is corrupt. Sadly, I was having some issues getting my Unisa mail synced to my new phone and only saw the mail after the assignment deadline.

I tried to download the file again, and it worked. Logged in on my phone, my partner's phone, and my PC at work. The file I submitted does download and open fine.

I did explain to my lecturer that the file is loading fine and asked if he could maybe re-try and download it again. I am sadly not getting a response, and the grade shown is 0.5/100.

Should I just give up and re-do the module next year or should I try and contact someone else in the department?

Food and Nutrition student looking for an entry level job

Hi everyone! My biggest apologies if this isn't allowed to be posted here.
I am a 1ˢᵗ year Consumer science Food and Nutrition student, fully online with practical done once a year.

I have searched far and wide under every job recruitment app and website but nearly 2 years later - no such luck.

I'm looking to get my career started in Food Product Development.

I am able to relocate and I'll take any entry level job/long-term internship related to Food Product Development.

There doesn't seem to be a very big demand for this career in South Africa but I am more than willing to start anywhere and work my way up.

Thank you to everyone in advance!

Prescribed book

Hi everyone. I would check on telegram but I’m locked out and I have to pay a fee to use it again. I’m hoping someone on here could please help out with providing these specific books, if possible. Thank you

Any one else having problems with their assessments?

I am currently taking the BSc in Computing course and I have 2 modules giving me problems. The Linear algebra 1(MAT1503) and Introduction to Programming 1 (COS1511)

The final assignment for MAT1503 is coming up but question 1 and 2 are impossible to do and question 3 and 4 are exactly the same, though I think they did address this one.

And for COS1511 the final marks for the asessment 4 is just wrong. A full 19 marks were incorrectly marked as wrong even though I tested them afterward.

Emailing the lecturers is also just futile as they never come back to you.
What am I suppose to do?

Does Unisa free therapy for students work online?

How does it work? Is it only in person? Can it work via teams? Those who tried it before how was the experience? How long did it take before a slot was available?

Is anyone taking any of these modules? I was kicked out of the telegram group.

Long story short I was banned from the telegram groups (all) last semester for asking if anyone wanted to study with me/be an accountability partner.

There is so much info on those groups, like past papers, solved past papers, and info on what type of invigilation software we use for exams. If anyone could help me out I would be extremely grateful.

My GF is studying nursing and hates lectures. I made her a tool to help :)

Hey everyone!

My girlfriend Milli is studying Nursing. Over the last little while, we’ve been building a study tool that originally started as something to help her with uni.

So, The Study Mill was born! You upload your lecture slides, notes, PDFs, or photos of handwritten notes into the “mill”, and it breaks them down into different ways to learn, including lessons, flashcards, glossaries, practice questions, cram sheets, and study plans.

For exams, you can add the date and subject and use your own notes to prepare.

One of our favourite features is Walk & Learn, which turns your study material into an interactive audio lesson that asks you questions as you go, or you can just listen in a podcast-style mode while walking, driving, or at the gym.

We also built assignment feedback because waiting weeks for a mark can be stressful. You can upload your assignment and rubric, and it gives you feedback on where you could improve based on the marking criteria. It doesn’t rewrite or change your assignment.

I’ve attached a few screenshots below so you can see what it looks like. Hopefully some of you find it useful. Would love to hear some feedback!

Online lectures

For the people studying bsc general: major in statistics

Or bsc mathematics and statistics

Do you have online lectures and any kind of teaching assistance aid?

I saw many complaints of people having to teach themselves does this happen in science faculty too and how hard is the teaching yourself part as well?

Do i have a poor chance at making it into UJ honors after studying at UNISA?

Hi, I have a passion for Mathematics and programming, I've been looking into deferent CS courses offered at different public universities and the UNISA

BSc Mathematics and Computer Science

course has been really tempting, it seems to go really deep into both fields, arguably even more so than some other public universities. My plan was to complete my BSc at UNISA then apply to do my honors at uj, then continue to a masters in Ai. That being said people around me have been telling me things like , "You'll have a tough time getting into uj hons if you study at unisa." and " The entrance exam means nothing!" I'm wondering if it's a good idea now. I have called uj, even spoke a person that manages honors applications, and she seems to completely disagree with the idea, and kept emphasizing how the ranking system actually works.

So I was wondering if anyone has had any experience doing something similar, or what you all think about this. Any advice would be appreciated

Seeking insights on UNISA PhD (Completion timeline & International fees)

Hi everyone,

I have been accepted into a PhD program at UNISA and will be registering during the next intake (my admission was approved after this year's deadline closed).

I would love to get some insights from UNISA graduates or scholars familiar with the international PhD experience:

  1. Completion Timeline: Realistically, is it possible to complete a PhD at UNISA in 2 years if you have strong academic writing skills? (In my home country, PhDs take at least 3+ years and involve extensive coursework, which isn't feasible alongside my full-time job).
  2. Tuition Fees: Can anyone confirm if the total annual fee for international PhD students comes out to approximately R36,960/year? Also, is it possible to get that international student levy waived?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Does my Advanced Diploma in Quality get me into UNISAs Environmental Management Honours?

I graduated with a 65% average in my Advanced diploma in Quality, I also have a National Diploma in Environmental Health. Do I qualify to enroll in the BSc Environmental Management Honours?

I’ve read people being accepted into the honours with an advanced diploma, but I want to confirm if it has to be a specific field?

I really love this course in particular and hopefully hear any thoughts or info on the selection process?

Module date doesn't line up with email notification.

I just got an email that said that my IOS2601 test is due on the 11th. The website itself doesn't say the 11th, nor an announcement or tutorial letter regarding the dates. Also the camera notification doesn't come on when I open the tab with the assignment on it. I assume that means it's open book, though it might just be one of the millions of technical issues.

This university gives me sever heart palpitations.
