Road trip to UP?

I’ve always wanted to visit the UP but the logistics are so daunting. Maybe I’m overthinking it? My family group is in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Grand Rapids, MI. Adults, teens, and little kids. Clearly this is going to involve some combination of planes and cars.

What would be the best airport to fly to? What sights would be best, including just for the adults? I have heard that kayaking the Apostle Islands is pretty great. I don’t want to spend my vacation driving from one place to another but looking at a map that seems almost unavoidable. I don’t know where to begin.

The UP makes me a better person

Hello everyone, I am from WI, but every year I take a week long trip up to Grand Marais just myself to go rock hunting. I'm on the lakeshore as much as I can be and do quite a bit of walking/hiking and I'm always sore and tired when I come back to WI.

What I've been noticing over the last few years, even though I'm exhausted and sore, I am in such an amazing mood, my head is clear and I'm just overall nicer to people. Does anyone else experience this? I know part of it is getting away and not being at work, but I just feel that there is something more magical or something that the UP or Lake Superior gives to me. I've had other long vacations and have gone other places and its just not the same.

August trip question

Hello! My cousin is getting married in Cedarville on August 1st. I’m flying home the following afternoon and was considering trying to make a quick trip to Mackinac Island. Is it worth it if I can only spend a few hours or should I just find other cool things to do in the area?

Ironwood, Michigan, Airbnb Questions

We are considering building a cabin in Ironwood, Michigan on Shotgun Road, near the ski resort (Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort). Looking to hear from anyone who has done an Airbnb there, stayed in the area, or currently owns one, and how the market has been. Any information or insight is appreciated!

June trip

Planning a UP trip first weekend in June - spouse is doing the MISH marathon in Escanaba June 6. We are coming into town the 5th then staying until Sunday. Planning to head north/east after. We have 5 and 6 year old boys - any recommendations or suggestions on some things to do? We’ve been told about kitch-iti-kipi and Oswald’s bear ranch so I’d love some more insight for things to do, places to eat, etc!

How are the bugs this week?

Heading up to Munising this coming weekend and hoping to hike some of pictured rocks! We’ll be glamping so I’m curious how the flies, ticks, and mosquitos are by the superior lakeshore? Anybody living around there that can provide some insight? Thank you so much!

Music Scene? Downtown excitement?

Hello, I'm planning to post up in the rockland area for 5 days in mid July. While I'm an outdoors person and would like to hike and kayak every day my boyfriend prefers other activities. He's a musician, likes wandering little downtowns and county fairs.

I'm not looking for bustling night life, just anything music oriented, or interesting downtowns to pop around in.

Last year we did part of the north country trail and kayaking pine river to keep me happy. That same trip we went to downtown Ludington where there was a music shop and found a local fair going on in some other town. Visited the Kiss monument in Cadillac as a history marker in music.lol That was the balance he needed to be happy.

If you know of any music shops or local places with historical context to music that would be ideal. Small town bands/venues that are worth checking out too.

Any other easy paced stuff from museum to odd shops and good food, little farms open to the public for peach picking or something.

*hopefully this is more specific than just general travel info*

Menominee Restaurant Recommendations

Hi there! I’m moving to Menominee this weekend and my birthday is coming up. Any birthday-worthy restaurants you’d recommend within 20 minutes of Menominee? I like everything except seafood!

Anyone in Marquette, Gladstone, Escanaba Looking For Friends?

I don’t know what I expect and doubt I'll make any friends. Thought I’ll give it a try anyway.

I’m a female 31, and I’m only looking for female friendship!

I’m into playing video games and I game on PC. Here’s a short list of games I have played and recently Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

I'm into fan fiction and creating OCs. I've got tons of info about the characters I’ve made and would love to share with someone about them. I’m also into makeup, skincare, and hair stuff. Horror movies are my jam, and I watch a variety of shows. Just ask me what I’m into.

I’m really fascinated by the paranormal and supernatural, and I enjoy watching body camera footage and urban exploration videos too. I’m a big fan of memes, especially dark humorous ones. I love history too. I'm big on European history. It's so interesting, especially history in the Czech Republic.

Honestly, I’m just looking for someone who gets me and is patient. I can be socially awkward and not the best at keeping conversations going all the time, so I might go quiet here and there. But I promise I’m not doing it to be mean, I just lack social skills. It’s very difficult for me.

Culhane or Bodi Lake

We will be staying at one of these two for a week this year. Any suggestions on which one is better for fishing? I'm not looking to target any species in particular.
