Daycare thoughts?

Does anyone here have any experience with the FitKids Daycare at RVC?

We’re moving to the area next month, and so far this is the only daycare where we’ll be able to get our kids in anytime soon. It seems okay, but I am wondering if anyone here has experience they’d be willing to share - good, bad, and otherwise.

Thanks!

Live in RV on friends property

Hey, I'm considering buying an RV to live on my friends property (their backyard) in Lebanon NH. Their house is zoned RL-1 on approx 0.5 acre.

My understanding is that technically this isn't permitted per city zoning restrictions. But I also know of a different buddy who's done it for a few years down in Claremont where they supposedly have the same rules and nobody ever bat an eye.

Does anyone have advice on this?

What's up at DHMC

I was visiting DHMC today and noticed.....lots of the elevators aren't working...some for quite a while. Asking a few people I know that work there I'm told it's a parts issue. Apparently the elevators are so old they can't find parts for them. Now I would think replacing them would be the logical choice. I would think there would be a tax benefit in updating. I also noticed the revolving door next to the parking garage doesn't work and hasn't for at least 3 years. I'm told it's the same, no parts. Now is this another example of mismanagement or is DHMC in financial trouble?

Memorial Day Plans / Activities?

Yes it's going to rain but not much! Highs of 67-68 on Friday and Saturday. The woods, trails and such are still muddy but it's going to be a great weekend. What's everyone up to? Any events or activities in the area?

Single 27 yo woman thinking of moving to Upper Valley - thoughts/things to do?

Hi all! I'm interviewing for a job at Dartmouth and will be in the area this week to check things out and complete my final round interview. I am 27, single, have 2 dogs and value having a strong community. It is the only thing holding me up on making this move from North Carolina (Raleigh/Durham) to the Upper Valley. I would love to hear any advice, places to check out, groups to join - any help you can give is appreciated!

For context: I enjoy running (training for the Chicago Marathon in October), reading, live music, watching/playing sports, going to the movies, and journaling in my free time. I have a strong group of friends in NC but am a social butterfly and love meeting new people. I know that New England is big on nature and outdoorsy sports, which I am very willing to learn if someone is willing to teach me 😄

Newport to Claremont - how bike-friendly is Rt103?

Due to a medical issue, I am not allowed to drive. I do have a Class 2 eTrike that I would like to use more often. I live in Newport, and can get most things I need locally, but if I need to ride to Market Basket or Walmart on Washington Street, are vehicle drivers going to hate me for riding an eTrike on Rt103? The Rail Trail would be ideal, but right now it's in terrible shape (probably from all the rain.) The eTrike can do maybe 20mph, so on some parts of the trip on Rt103 a vehicle would have to pass me. Last thing I want is someone tailing me while leaning on their horn. (Yes, it's happened. The guy had plenty of space to pass, but he chose to prove a point.)

How is Meadow Brook Village?

Hello everyone,

I am a new faculty member at currently looking for housing within about a 10-minute drive from campus. I was originally planning to move into Summit on Juniper, but all of the 1B1B units are already full, so I am now searching for other apartment options.

I would prefer a professionally managed apartment complex rather than an individually managed unit. I also looked into Timberwood Commons, but recently came across Meadowbrook Village Apartments and wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with it or knows anything about the place.

I really appreciate everyone who replied to my previous post. Since there may be current Dartmouth affiliates actually living there, I thought I would ask again here. Thank you so much in advance!

3rd Spaces in the Upper Valley

Hi. I’m interested in learning about and discussing all the “3rd spaces” for adults (both young and old) in the Upper Valley (other than churches where you’re expected to follow a religion and cafe/bars where there is some expectation you would purchase something.)

Some pluses would be:

-not kid-centric… appropriate for adults of any age either without kids or with grown kids

-affordable, preferably free access

-Easily accessible to pedestrians and public transport

-not online, IRL only

What do you consider a solid 3rd space in your community? What type of 3rd spaces do you think we could use more of?

Rentals in Lebanon or West Lebanon

I am looking for a 3-bedroom rental in Lebanon or West Lebanon between $2,800 and $3,000 depending on utilities.

My family was recently approved for a Section 8 voucher after my two younger brothers (ages 21 and 15) moved into my home. We are currently in a 2-bedroom I have lived in for 8 years with my son, but it has become too small for our family.

I don’t have a credit history because I have always paid for things directly rather than use credit, but I do not have any debt aside from student loans. I have a strong rental history with consistent on-time rent payments.

Any leads or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can provide any additional information or documentation needed.

Dartmouth Coach

I'm thinking of taking Dartmouth Coach from Lebanon to South Station. They don't take reservations. Does the bus fill up more at certain times? Thanks.

Can I move my 7 person family into a 2 bedroom home?

I plan on moving my family into a new home but can only do it in a 2 bed room home. I would have 3 people sleep per bedroom and one in the living room. Is this legal? I own the house but am not sure if I am going to be breaking any zoning rules and I’m afraid of calling and asking the town because then they’ll be onto me.

We have our own septic and well and only one bathroom. I think it’s doable and it’s the best I can do but I don’t want to get in trouble later on. Is there any community in the upper valley where this is allowed?

I should add that I’m not related to 4 of these people but I still consider them family.

Short term housing this summer in the Upper Valley?

Hello,

I am looking for short-term housing for 1 quiet adult professional who has no pets in the Upper Valley are for July and August 2026, maybe shorter or longer.

I would prefer unfurnished but would consider furnished. I’d rather not put my small amount of furniture in storage etc.

Thanks!
