Homeless forum Angela Clay

Hi all, I attended the homelessness forum last week. I learned (supposedly): the police won’t remove homeless people from the park, the park district says there is a state law that allows folks to be in the park, a lot of homeless have mental health or substance abuse issues, the social services agencies offer to help, but if people refuse help, nothing gets done. The bus shelters with homeless living in them are no one’s issue to deal with. Alderman Clay’s office doesn’t know how many beds, shelters or affordable housing units are available. Also the alders staff made it clear at the beginning that anyone with a problem with homeless people would be shamed in the meeting. And it appears the Alders office doesn’t do anything to actually address homelessness except give out the phone number for social service agencies. The messaging and meeting were incredibly disappointing. Basically they can tell us about resources but don’t actually do anything to address the problem or coordinate solutions. At least that was my takeaway. And the folks living next to Victory Park with a drug encampment were basically told that the Alders office knows about the problem, but it wasn’t clear that they had any kind of solution. Further, the Alderman’s point person on homelessness didn’t even attend the event specifically to address homelessness. Does anyone have better information about what is being done to help folks get out of the parks and into housing?

Trash can pickup

Has anyone else noticed the garbage cans around the Aragon are not being regularly emptied and keep overflowing? They are supposed to be emptied 3 days a week. I tried speaking to the Ward office but they just referred me to Streets and Sanitation who said they were short staffed. Any suggestions?

Small Music Festival by Foster Beach?

I was walking through the park yesterday (June 28) and just north of Foster Beach there was a small music festival, does anybody know what it was? There was EDM on the stage when I walked by. They had a mobile bathroom station but it also felt unorganized and just like a big group of people just showed up.

Magnolia Gardens

This is a crazy long shot.

My name is Milo D. I’m at 4865 a few doors down from Magnolia Gardens (4845-4855 N. Magnolia). A package of mine was delivered to the Magnolia Gardens building incorrectly a while back.

I don’t need to speak with anyone and I’m not asking for anything except for my package to be returned. I kindly ask that if you live at that address and happen to see the package in any of the buildings/mail room to simply throw the incorrectly delivered package over the fence at 4865 N. Magnolia.

Please remove this if not allowed.
Thanks!!!

What’s the deal with JJ equities?

Living here for years, I’ve noticed this guy and his black commercial pickup parking on the loading zone outside Emerald City in Wilson almost daily. He works at J&J equities. He harasses homeless people or anyone else sitting outside at Emerald, he parks illegally every day, and now he’s upgraded his hat collection to flaunt his love of cults and war criminals across his dashboard.

The tables outside Emerald have recently disappeared, and now i’m thinking this dude is gonna continue escalating his hateful behavior to neighbors and people around him because he feels like it’s his prerogative to decide who does and doesn’t belong here.

Does anybody know what happened to this guy to make him so proudly the biggest asshole on the block? Like did someone pants him when he was on the high school football team?

Edit: a typo

ISO Outdoor Parking

I had to get a truck for work and unfortunately where I planned to park it, Weiss Hospital Parking garage in Clarendon clearance is too small. Does anyone have parking available they’re willing to rent out?
