Mastodon/Deafheaven at the Riviera

Who else is going to see Mastodon w/ Deafheaven and Alcest at The Riv tonight? I'll be there in a Chat Pile shirt.

I also think the Riv has gotten better post covid. Not my favorite but better than Aragon imo.

The 100 year old Pioneer Trust and Savings Bank Building in west Chicago was once of the largest commercial banks in the United States

This bank in my old neighborhood is now 100 years old (c. 1925/1926). It has sat abandoned for years. You can see it’s been defaced now. The architecture and craftsmanship is actually spectacular though and I’ve spoken with people who used to work in it. They would recall how grand it was on the inside.

I took this photo and published a Wikipedia article on it a couple years ago for anyone interested in further reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioneer_Trust_and_Savings_Bank_Building?wprov=sfti1#

Anyone wanna jam in the park?

One of my favorite things to do in the city is to sit in Lincoln Park and jam a little bit. Usually I just find a park bench between Osterman and Montrose, take out my banjo and harmonica, and play for the passersby who usually seem to enjoy it. But lately I've been wishing to jam with other people in the carefree, positive minded atmosphere that the park on a sunny day seems to cultivate. Does anyone else like to jam in the park? Is anyone looking to jam with rhythm banjo and harmonica? I'd love to meet like-minded musicians who just want to play in a no-stakes environment for anyone who cares to listen
