Apartment Water Damage Due To Rain - No Landlord Action. What can I do?

Since the first week of July we have had an issue with substantial amounts of water coming into our apartment through both west facing windows. When first reported we were told we were not the only unit who experienced water issues during that storm - and once things had dried up a bit they would send out someone to inspect and remedy. It’s now almost 2 months later, I’ve reported multiple other instances of the water damage, it’s also coming in through the wood around the windows - leading to water damage in the walls and ceiling not to mention possible mold growth or electrical outlet damage. It’s to the point now where we have to leave towels in the window all day in case of any storms as we both work out of the house, often coming home to water everywhere.

I understand that for a proper repair to happen the outside of the building may need to be dry - but certainly there is an interim repair that can be made of other action taken to remedy this issue.

It’s to the point now that my emails and calls are being ignored and not returned.

Obviously damage to our health and the health of our pets from potential mold is also of concern.

What can I do?

Mostly just want to get this taken care of

Are there any founders/entrepreneurs in content creation/media/IRL events living in West Loop/Wicker Park/Bucktown/River North/River West or other nearby neighborhoods?

I want to start a co-working group of founders in a similar space (content creation, newsletters, media, or running IRL events). The main purpose is to motivate each other, learn from each other and help each other grow.

I live in Chicago, West Loop specifically. I’m a 34M and I run a weekly newsletter that aggregates events and will also eventually run my own events. And I’m building it myself. While I love what I do, it can get tough building alone and not having a cohort going through similar things.

Open to hearing what ya’ll think and if you are interested in joining my group, we can chat!

Long shot but… we witnessed a proposal this week!

We were at the lily pond in Lincoln Park on Sunday and saw a cute proposal go down from across the pond, they had a photog but figured they might like our angle too! Hopefully this finds the happy couple!
