USF admission chances

First time posting, lol. But I'm a junior right now and I'm wondering about my chances of getting into USF as an out of state aplicant. USF is my dream school and so I'll be applying early decision which I hear helps your chances. If you have any tips or stats you think is important please share! I'm just now working on my whole application on common app. Be brutaly honest if you have to, if I need to look at other colleges let me know what you think about the state school in SF, if it's worth it. But ultimately living in san francisco is my dream and going to USF would be amazing. I plan on majoring in biology as a pre med their BTW.

ACT: 21, but I don't think I'll submit it because USF is test optional ( is that a mistake?)

Gpa:3.4 (unweighted, Hs doesn't weigh it for AP's)

My freshman year started horrible, but I've gotten better grades since with 3.4-3.5 term sophmore year and 3.6-3.8 term junior year.

Classes

2 dual enrollments

AP: lang, APUSH, BIO (senior classes: gov, chem, lit, hopefully psychology and environmental science)

Extracurricular

- part time job at a nursing home, close to 3 years

-speech and debate 3 years

- science olympiad 2 years

-world affairs club

- going to get my certified nursing assistant license(CNA)

- volunteer work at a womens shelter (close to 60 hours)

- TA my sophomore year for an English teacher

-eventually starting my own club

Recommendation letters (plan to ask)

-English teacher

-bio teacher

-speech and debate coach

-CNA course teacher

Personal statement

My journey as a gay teen, dealing with bullying leading to freshman grade drop, visiting SF, spreading kindness

Let me know what you think, again USF is my dream school but if you really think it won't happen let me know so I can took at other less expensive schools to plan out my future. If you have tips to improve my chances let me know.

Online classes?

I know USF uses canvas, I’m trying to figure out some logistics and I’m wondering if USF has any fully online classes or are they mostly all in person?

Need advice…USFCA Biology?

Hello,

I'm not entirely sure if I will find the help I need here, but I'd love to hear from anyone. I am a Bay Area native and have lived here my whole life. As a senior in high school, I will be attending college this fall. As of now, I have two options: USF and the University of Notre Dame. Although I am fully aware of ND’s prestige, I find my gut still pulling towards USF. I need someone to be brutally honest with me: as someone hoping to get into med school, is it really that much more important that I go to a highly prestigious university? I would love to work with UCSF and the advantages of being in San Franciso, but I know just how strong ND is. What should I do? Does anyone currently at USF (who's applying to med school or on the track of course) feel unprepared for med school? This is causing me an incredible about of stress and I feel so lost.
Not to mention, I'm horrified of losing all the “first time applicant” privileges I received in my offer: not only did I receive the highest scholarship, but I’d also have the Getty fellowship as well. I don't know if I could afford USF if I went elsewhere, didn't like it, and wanted to come back. On the other hand, I don’t know if I could go back to ND if I wanted to either.

Any and all imput whatsoever (even hearsay from friends or anyone) is so important to me at this time.

SCU vs USFCA MA in Counseling Psychology for marriage and family therapy

I just accepted into SCU's masters in counseling psychology program and I am torn between here and USFCA. Some context, I am from San Francisco so my first choice was USFCA because I liked their program and the convenience of the location. I already paid the admission deposit before I got my acceptance letter from SCU. However, USFCA would cost around 80k while SCU's would cost around 70k. It's about an hour drive from my house to SCU too so that is a big downside for me considering how much closer USFCA is. But I also heard SCU's program has a high pass rate for the certification exam to become an LMFT. Does anyone have advice they can share from their own experience from either of these programs?

USFCA

How hard is it to get a job off campus or work study? I wanted to apply a few weeks before I start in august to get a secure spot but wanna see what the competition is like and if its difficult or if they have open spots for students.

IS USFCA good for entrepreneurs in 2026?

I got into USF, Northeastern, and a bunch of other places in the US, and I also got into UCL and Warwick in the UK.

Right now I’m seriously considering USF because they’ve given me a $152k scholarship, and I want to be in the heart of Silicon Valley/SF because my main goal is to build and work on startups. I’m from India, and I’m pretty self-motivated, so I know I can push myself hard and make the most of wherever I go.

My main concern with USF is peer quality. I’m worried it might not be as strong as UCL/Warwick/Northeastern, and the university isn’t ranked that highly. I’m also concerned about the lack of prestige when pitching to VCs or trying to build a network in SF.

I applied for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, but I’m also considering switching into something more skill-based like Economics or Finance. At the same time, I feel like if I’m going into finance, London/UCL/Warwick might make way more sense.

So I’m stuck between:

USF: huge scholarship, SF/startup access, cheaper, close to the ecosystem
UCL/Warwick: much stronger prestige, better global brand, probably stronger peers
Northeastern: US option with better ranking/co-op, but likely more expensive

Would USF actually hold me back because of prestige/peer quality, or does being in SF + the scholarship make it worth it if I’m focused on startups?

Would love honest opinions, especially from people in startups, VC, finance, or international students who made a similar choice.

Grading Scale Question (A+)

Hi, I am an admitted student and I am also a prospective law student. In your experience, do professors at USF give "A+" grades? It's not clear from the website but LSAC says that there is an A+ on the grading scale. I'm grateful for any insight from current or former students.
