She’s so cute, I’m gonna die!
This is Ophilia and I’m finally able to rehouse her, but she pooped on me!!! But that’s OK, she’s just too adorable. 🥰

I'm bringing home a Orange faced velvet (Eresus sp "balcanicus") today and have been running into a tiny bit of trouble setting up her enclosure.
I have corkbark, sand and soil mix (Biodude bioactive substrate), and dry moss. I left a temperature gage in the terrarium overnight and the humidity is reading over 70-80%... Everything is bone dry and I'm using a tarantula crib house w/canopy; which is what I've seen be used for a velvet spider set up before from a reputable source.
Is the humidity or the substrate I'm currently using something I should be concerned about?
I'm ruling out the temperature gage as being faulty so I ordered a new one specifically for animal enclosures hoping that will be more accurate.
But I'm just not 100% clear on if humidity of any kind will be fatal- or just give no water misting and she'll be good to go.
I appreciate any feedback; there's not a lot of solid information a available for these cuties yet and I just want to make sure she has the best quality of life possible!
Hi everyone! I got my new subadult/adult female Eresus Walckenaeri from the Spider Shoppe delivered this morning and I’m absolutely over the moon! I want to make sure her enclosure is looking okay, I know I read as they get bigger they prefer more substrate but is this too much? I want to make sure I have the perfect home! I also have a 6 inch cube from Tarantula Cribs coming this week along with 4 inch Canopy crib so if those are better for her I’ll move her in one of those! This is a 6x4x4 Slider Crib! She keeps trying to climb the walls and seems like she’s struggling a bit but then again I’m sure it’s stress from shipment plus no webbing yet lol. Thank you guys and sorry for the novel 🖤 🕸️
I got my baby Bella a couple of weeks ago. She has had her first molt (as seen in the photo in her web!) She is the first spider I have kept and I mainly have experience with mantids.
She's eating well and seems happy (as far as I can tell) in the orginal vial that she arrived in. I have a 4x4 cube enclosure set up for when I need to rehouse her.
When should I move her up in to her new enclosure? Any advice is welcome :) thanks!
Was nice to see them come out but they took too long to attack so I couldn’t keep recording lol. When I checked on them later they were eating the bean beetle in their little web tunnel.
Here's a photo of one of my velvet's (Gandanameno Sp.) enclosure, still slings and they're great pets! It's been about 4-5 months since I've gotten them with a little surprise of getting 2 sent to me accidentally by Micro Exotics.
They've been eating well, recently just fed them before my holiday in about 3 days, and they've both got the flies pretty much instantly. Very cool to see!
So, how is your experience (if you have one) with a sling velvet?
