Season 2 - Why did V feel guilty about Meg?
First time viewer here, thanks to all for helping me through season 1. Now on to season 2. V felt bad that Meg was injured in the bus crash, because "if it weren't for me, she would have been in the limo." But V didn't do anything that prevented Meg from riding in the limo, did she? V was on the bus, not in the limo. And Meg knew it, since she told the chaperone everyone was present, so that V would be left behind. So V had no reason to blame herself for Meg's injuries, did she?
Thoughts on the movie and S4
Doing another rewatch of the series and something struck me as I was watching the movie and starting s4 (which idk if Im in the right headspace to finish this time haha):
Kristin Bell's acting completely shifts in the movie/S4 compared to the original seasons 1-3. She's much more serious and doesn't have as many zingers as in the early seasons.
Do we think this was a conscious decision by either her or R Thomas to make this character shift?
I would say Logan's character is also more serious in the movie and S4 but I think his is justified because of his storyline in the movie. However, Veronica is just as funny and light in season 3 even after everything that goes down in seasons 1-2, which is why the shift to her character being ultra serious in the movie/S4 seem more jarring.
Thoughts? Does this bother anyone else? I get that the movie and S4 gave R Thomas the ability to be "edgier" but idk I find her character shift a little distracting and kind of a downer tbh, compared to the original series.
Season 1 - What's with the photos of Veronica with a target on her?
A big thing in Season 1 was the disappearance of V's mom. The mom said she left because her presence would endanger V, and Clarence's photos with a target on V seemed to confirm this. But in the season finale, the mom was back, it seemed she left because of her drinking, and Clarence and the photos were not mentioned. So what was the point of the photos and why was V in danger because of her mom? I know the mom was sleeping with Kane but that would not make Clarence want to kill her, unless maybe if she knew something about Lilly's death.
Where is Backup!!?
Been rewatching and just finished season 1 again,
Noticed through like half the episodes Backup is just non-existent!!
And then, he's the one that stops the big getaway from Aaron Echolls, and then bam! Dad is in the hospital, so is Veronica, then she leaves and gets Wallace's mom to sit with dad. Veronica gets home.... And NO BACKUP!?!
I doubt they let this big ass dog in the hospital (who could stop him though amirite!?) but he's just not even there!!
Crazy! Idk just had me floored the other day that he was literally the hero and then is just what? Left at the scene of the crime? The Cops are dog sitting!? I need to know..
Movie ending different on Netflix??
If there is already a post on this, I’m sorry, I couldn’t find it.
I remember the movie from the theaters. I HATED THE ENDING.
It has kept me from watching the movie again until today.
I’m not going to say what that ending was other than the massive heartbreak death. And I don’t mean Gia.
But I did watch it today. And it cuts off with Logan and Veronica kissing goodbye, and Keith alive and well.
WHAT HAPPENED??
Why the change?!
Or was it just me having a very faulty memory I definitely don’t have??
⇀Would you say that the show is "iconic" in pop culture ?
Keith as the Sheriff
Something that kind of annoyed me in the show was that Keith had opportunities to become Sheriff and fumbled them. First there was losing an easily winnable election against Lamb and then in season 3 when Lamb dies he becomes interim sheriff and it seemed like he was going to cruise to an easy election victory, and then he destroys evidence of Veronica’s break-in. I feel like as a sheriff he’d have access to a lot more resources than if he was just a PI, which helps him and Veronica. But it seemed like the show wanted to keep him as a PI. If they wanted to keep him as a PI, they should have just kept him as a PI instead of teasing that he’s gonna become Sheriff.
Who do you think wasted more money?
Veronica paying for her mother’s rehab or Wallace buying a ticket to Paris when Jackie was in New York.
How come Veronica Mars isn't on more greatest TV lists ?
Like the show was never a viewership success but critics loved it so much. The show was praised so much by critics but also by really amazing and respected writers among them were : Joss Whedon said it was the "Best. Show. Ever. Seriously, I've never gotten more wrapped up in a show I wasn't making, and maybe even more than those [...] These guys know what they're doing on a level that intimidates me. It's the Harry Potter of shows."Kevin Smith said that it was "hands-down, the best show on television right now, and proof that TV can be far better than cinema."Stephen King said that it was a mix of"Nancy Drew meets Philip Marlowe, and the result is pure nitro. Why is Veronica Mars so good? It bears little resemblance to life as I know it, but I can't take my eyes off the damn thing."Ed Brubaker called it "the best mystery show ever made in America."^(.)The show was seen as "Alias in its attitude, Raymond Chandler in its writing and The O.C. in its class-consciousness."
Apparently, many critics and media outlets felt like Kristen Bell was robbed of a Primetime Emmy for her performances in the show (I completely agree, because I feel like with The Good Place, VM was her best role and allowed to shine in dramatic department).
Like, I don't think we can go down the teen drama route because those lists also have Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the initial concept being "High school is hell" in the form of B horror movies), Friday Night Lights, Gilmore Girls, My So-Called Life, and Freaks and Geeks. Like those shows, VM have a high concept premise with the mix of noir and teen drama. The first season is one of the best first seasons ever put on screen and is on the same level as True Detective. Season 2 is less but still great and widely acclaimed. Season 3 is significantly less good but still pretty good with some episodes being the best and most iconic ones in the series (Spit Eggs is living rent free in my head). The movie is pretty decent and there's no season 4 [...]. Now, I saw a show that I find interesting was here : Alias. It's not as frequent but it's still there a couple of times and I found that interesting BECAUSE the show is notorious for having a quick downfall after the second season and it has five seasons. I mean, VM is as realistic about the teenage life as Freaks and Geeks as they got the way teenagers were talking, behaving, partying and all those teens are allowed to have the same grey area as some other "prestige" TV shows. I mean, I remember an interview for Vulture where Rob Thomas and Josh Schwartz (the creator of The OC) both said that they took inspirations from the realism of Freaks and Geeks. The OC could have been an all-time great if it had one season and that one season is not near the same level of critical acclaim as VM. While season 4 is hated, I never saw it on all-time worst seasons but season 3 of The OC is often hailed as such. Now, I'm not calling VM perfect, NO SHOW is (yes not even The Sopranos) but in light of everything I just said, I think the show deserved at least to be on one least (just like Skam or the spin-off Angel).
Lily’s farewell
Not my best work but scene is so pretty
Looking for an episode
This might be a long shot, but my dad was in the background of an episode of VM because they were filming at his job. Not even his whole body but his arm pressing an elevator button lol. I was just a kid so I don’t remember the episode and neither does he. Would anyone happen to know an episode where they are inside of a Marriott hotel?
Cases being solved totally at the end without clues
Alright so first off I am a new watcher of Veronica Mars, and I will say that I am enjoying the TV show a lot. However, one thing that I feel like happens sometimes during an episode is that the crime or case would be solved at the end with information that the viewers never got a hint at anytime before the ending.
For example, I just watched Clash of The Tritons, and at the very end VM explains that Rick was actually taking the money from his locker. This would've never crossed my mind because we never knew which locker Rick had (it was only shown for a brief second)
Anyways I'd love your guys thoughts abt this and please let me know if I missed something.
Keith Mars - Spoilers if you haven't finished the series.
I know that season 4 is... well it is what it is and I know there are a lot of big feelings. I have a lot of them too. Really big ones.
Spoilers:
>!But I'm trying to figure out who Keith is dating by the end of the series. Or who would actually be a good fit for that? I'm currently spending my free time... literally all of it... trying to come up with a season 5 and make it as believable and realistic and also satisfying... but I don't know what to do on that front. Should it be that he's not dating even though Veronica said he had a girlfriend at the end of season 4? Should he get back together with someone like Alicia because that would be really satisfying for some? Should it be someone completely new?!<
I'm hoping to get opinions from this wonderful community because I have no one else who is as obsessed as I am about it. My writing is likely going to go nowhere accept probably on Ao3 and it will end up just being for fun. But I need more and I want it to be the show that utilizes the main cast instead of just giving them cameos. I loved the cast. I love the emotional connections the characters had/have.
(Also, I know I'm listed as Team WeeVer but I'm LoVe too... just making that statement. I'm not here to change anyone's mind, just wanna chat with fellow fans.)
What was the fandom like before 2019? Is it really dead now?
**SPOILER** Final episode
I’m so angry. I ugly cried.
WHY?!?!?!
Why was it necessary to continue dumping trauma on her?! She deserved to be happy. I’m pissed. I hated it. I’m writing an alternate ending in my head😠
Am I alone in this?!
