People are way too harsh on Tori Vega for not instantly knowing theater culture

Something that has always bothered me about the Victorious fandom is how harsh people are toward Tori Vega whenever she doesn’t know something related to theater or performing arts.

People make fun of her for:

not knowing who Sofia Michelle was,

not understanding what an understudy is,

not immediately understanding certain theater rules or traditions, etc.

But… why WOULD she automatically know those things?

Tori literally came from a regular school before Hollywood Arts. She had never attended a performing arts school before. Hollywood Arts was a completely new environment for her.

A lot of the other students:

grew up around theater,

had years of performing experience,

already knew the culture,

already understood how auditions and productions worked.

Tori was learning in real time.

Not knowing something when you’re brand new to an environment does NOT make you stupid. It makes you inexperienced.

And honestly, Jade’s reactions sometimes made the situation worse. I understand Jade was passionate and competitive, but getting angry at someone for asking questions or not understanding theater terminology immediately always felt unfair to me.

Sometimes fandoms forget what it’s like to be new at something.

Where are they now....

With the new show with Trina being a teacher or the principal? I'm not sure what it is. With her coming back to HA we're going to most likely get a where are they on the characters. So where do we think they are? Not all of them can be famous I think if anything only 1 MAYBE makes it out. Tori most likely considering she's got all the leads in songs and plays... will either be A. Made it. B. Was a 1 hit wonder but now is chasing something. C. Never actually truly made it and is either working a normal job or small time plays or singing gigs.

So we're going off what we think the show will do. We cannot bring what the actual actors are doing in real life into the show.

So we got Tori, Beck, Jade, Andre, Cat, Robbie and lets add Sinjin and Sikowitz.

Tori is mega famous or 1 hit wonder

Cat weirdly made it making it once but in acting.

Jade is a writer and director for horror movies. She's not famous but is known well enough. She and Beck do get married but we see that they are separated again.

OR they did break up this one is 50/50

Beck doesn't make it far doing some shows here and there but ends up being a server. He either A. Ends up with Jade or B. Ends up with Tori.

Robbie is doing kids shows with Rex

Andre is doing best as he had written songs for so many singers. He and Tori remain friends for a couple years but eventually just drifted off.

Sinjin is working props on well known movies and show.

Sikowitz is still at HA.

If the writers had chosen to fully commit to Andre Harris having a long-term crush on Jade West instead of wrapping it up in a single episode, how drastically would the dynamic between Andre and Beck Oliver have shattered?

Beck/Avan

I was going to put this as part of another post I did but thought it was a separate discussion in itself.

Is it just me or does Avan not really get much to work with across the series? Beck is part of the group and class, and primarily Jade's bf, beyond that there doesn't seem to be that much else to him compared to other characters.

In aome group scenes he'll have like one or two lines and he's only really there because it's easier than having to explain why he's not if he's in the rest of the episode.

With other characters we see more of their lives outside school. Tori obviously being the lead and her house and family and her journey. Andre backing her, but we also see his house and get to know his grandma. Robbie has Rex and we see his house and meet his mamaw plus he's got the blog and other random things. Cat has all kinds of crazy stories that make up her character. While we don't know a lot about Jade, she's dominantly in scenes and in a fair few of the performances, but with Beck we see his trailer and briefly hear about his parents and that he's Canadian, but otherwise he's usually background for most performances and most of his storylines revolve around his relationship with Jade.

I'm nearly at the end of season 1 of my rewatch and I just feel like he's primarily Jade's attractive bf and haven't really done much else with him, which is curious given the rest of the cast and after watching some other things Avan has done, he could've been given far more than he was.

If Mason Thornesmith approached you with an absolute guarantee of global superstardom, but the explicit cost was allowing him to completely rewrite your entire identity, erase your personal style, and legally cut ties with your closest friends and family, would you sign the contract?

Do you believe that Cat running away in panic after Robbie kissed her in "One Thousand Berry Balls" was a sign of genuine, repressed romantic feelings that terrified her, or was it purely an uncomfortable reaction to a friend crossing a boundary?

What changed for you after each re watch you've done?

I'm curious what people have noticed each time they've watched the show or what's changed during each re watch. Is there a character you hated that you started to like or the other way around? Did you pick up on something you missed other times?

For me one thing is Trina. I couldn't stand her the first time, but no rewatching it I realise her character is meant to be all the things that made her not like her, and her craziness really stands out as an over the top choice for her character. She's basically Jade, except instead of being mean and scary, she's self centred and annoying, but it suits for this show since each character is different but they all work well together.

Why did the writers make Jade possessive?

That should not have flown even back then. It sure is heck would not have flown if they made Beck possessive. It's Nickelodeon not Degrassi (though Degrassi on TeenNick) for crying out loud. It's not the only thing (portrayal of black women, mental health among others). It wasn't just Dirty Dan and his writing team, Nickelodeon allow them free range (well not that much because the show ended before we could a proper series finale). I'm sure part of it was, we didn't know better but we do now. I get it, they weren't going to be a perfect but could it been in the middle?

The Hambone King’s ending had to have been a last minute change

This is one of my least favorite episodes simply because of the ending. It really ruined what could’ve been a really decent episode. Seriously, they took what should’ve been Robbie’s moment to shine and then gave it to Tori just out of nowhere with absolutely zero foreshadowing that this was gonna happen. I’m not a Tori hater like a lot of other people are. But my god, was her involvement in this episode so forced and poorly executed.

I truly believe this ending was a last minute change. Now, I obviously had no evidence or sources to confirm this. But it seems likely that what happened was that the episode was originally going to end with Robbie winning against Gerald and being declared the Hambone King because the whole episode was clearly building towards that moment. But on the day they were going to shoot it, either Dan Schneider or a Nickelodeon executive came to the set and demanded them to change the ending on the spot to somehow get Tori involved and have her be the winner instead of Robbie.

Again, that’s obviously just a theory. But I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s exactly what happened

I do not remember the scene in Victori-Yes where the girl asked André to smell her foot

Dan was not subtle at all, was he?

Does anyone have any Victorious characters in the new Tomodachi Life game? I made Tori, Jade, and Cat. I wanted to see if I could get Tori and Jade to have feelings for each other. Tori has fallen in love with Jade 😊

If you had to choose a creative partner for a career-defining showcase, would you rather team up with a brilliant perfectionist who might physically assault you over a creative difference (Jade) or a chaotic wildcard whose intense paranoia could ruin the entire production (Robbie)?

Sleep over at Sikowitz’s

I just re watched this episode and noticed that Tori who is meant to be a police officer has a security officer shirt on

Jade West: The four-season evolution of Hollywood Arts’ most iconic force 🖤🔥

Beck fangirls

I decided to double down on my claims about Beck I don’t care. I’m not even a jade fan. She is a bitch sometimes. Atleast I can recognize that.

But what KILLLLSSSS me — society is infamous for excusing the behavior of a man. If the behavior isn’t obnoxious, and obvious, then it’s automatically excused.

Beck is not out-right loud and obvious about his disrespect. He does it quietly, and he’s very manipulative. He KNOWS jade. He knows how she is. Why constantly entertain other women when you know jade doesn’t like it? He loves the attention he received from the girls

He makes her out to be crazy when she expresses her frustration very clearly, but ignore that.

He would rarely reassure her when there was concern. He could’ve done it MORE than wha he did.

Anytime there was a concern with jade, he wouldn’t confront it head on. He wouldn’t actually solve it.

—-

All very obvious signs of manipulative behavior and if you dismiss that, then you’re part of the problem. This is why men consistently get away with behavior like this..

Either that, or you genuinely don’t understand why that behavior is abusive and toxic. Which is worse.

You can say “oh jades a bitch!!” All day. I agree, she is. But don’t ever ask why she’s being a bitch? Why she’s on edge? It’s because the one person that is supposed to make her feels safe.. constantly puts her in situations where she feels threatened, unsafe, or insecure

- meeting with Tori behind her back knowing jade doesn’t like that

- kissing Tori in the pilot? He could’ve said anything else tha started with the letter L.
•”Let’s not”
•”Let’s hug instead”

- the group of girls he had in his car. He literally says “sometimes girls just show up at my house and ask for rides to school”, and the girls are clearly flirting and pandering to him. Offering him gum because he asked for gum, agraving his shoulder, being overly flirtatious. The fact that it’s a consistent thing? And he allows it?

Those are only a FEW examples! He Never put a blatant stop to it, and he never embarrassed or rejected when girls tried to compete for him- even when jade was around. lol.

So this whole “jades just randomly a bitch. She’s a bitch all on her own”, as if she’s not in a constant state of paranoia and a LITERALLY VICTIM OF ABUSE … it’s nuts to me tbh

Normalize holding men accountable for their behavior.

But then again, the fan girls are probably 16 year old girls and don’t understand that those aren’t normal behaviors.

Just to clarify- this post is mainly speaking on their relationship. Not their isolated behaviors or personality’s
