Life in the Ruins - is it good ?

Hey everyone!

I finally want to properly play through Fallout 4. I only played a few hours on PS5 a couple of years ago, so I never really got into it.

Now that I’m playing on PC, I’d like to use mods.
At first I was thinking about Magnum Opus, but I didn’t have enough storage space on my PC haha. I do have enough space for Life in the Ruins, though!

What do you guys think of the modlist? Is it fun to play? I’ve heard it’s more focused on survival — is it really difficult, or is it still pretty manageable?

Also, do you have any other tips for settings or anything else I should know before starting?
Thanks!

Skyrim mod list with Begin again feel

My girlfriend and I are just finishing a playthrough of fallout with Begin again installed. We've both loved it. We're gonna start Skyrim soon so I wanted to ask what modlist would have a similar vanilla+ feel.

Added lore friendly items, minor quests, and visuals would be a bonus. Playing on a laptop 3060 ti.

One major thing is I don't want anything that adds difficulty, or that I can't tweak to lower the difficulty. She's a newer gamer so easier combat makes the game more enjoyable.

Thanks for any help.

Any other modlist well balanced like Lorerim but allows for more flashy bow gameplay?

Basically what I want is this: I wanna play full bows entire game but in order to do that i need quick show/rapid shot and some aoe multi shot like skills for bows. They seem to be disabled for lorerim which forces me to use followers or have secondary setups when enemy closes the game.

my idea game play would be this long range i use heavy, strong sneak attacks and power attacks

and indoors or close quarter, i swap to light bow(cuz faster draw rate) and able to go pew pew pew without having to fully draw the bow maybe a bit of jump or dodge attacks and throw daggers and rest is good old kiting

Looking for a content-heavy Skyrim modlist!

Hey all! If I could get some recommendations for any mod lists that feature a ton of weapons, armor, quests, locations, creatures/enemies, etc. I’d appreciate it greatly! I’m really not big on the whole turn Skyrim into a souls like hardcore horny survival game and that unfortunately rules out a massive amount of lists lol.

Edit:Thanks for the recommendations y’all! I’m gonna give a few of these a try!

Recommend a modlist for me!

Sadly i only really have 1TB downloads to share between four people in my household, so i can't really experiment with mods very much, but i have been itching to play modded skyrim again and just can't pick a modlist to settle on!
I've played Nordic Souls, LoreRim and Librum, and i quite liked them all but i definitely had more fun with Lorerim and Librum

I've been playing skyrim for a while since i was six, so i'd absolutely adore a modlist that changes up the game almost entirely, no vanilla+ packs please! I'd love something more challenging with new mechanics for me to explore and have fun with.

I quite like the skill trees of the old elderscrolls games, where you start off really weak and pathetic really, and you can't just be an all rounder with your character. I like that you have to go with a certain build, and that there's many different skills that you HAVE to upgrade; an example i can think of is the crime and currency mod i used to play on playstation where it encourages you to steal and grind a bit to progress.

I quite like survival-esc mods that make traversing skyrim rather difficult and exciting, nothing like vanilla where you just walk to where you need to go for ten-twenty minutes no worries.

List of priorities
—> Quest Overhauls
—> QOL Overhauls
—> Skilltree Adjustments / Revamp
—> Graphics that aren't overly bright, something moody, but i'm not too fussed with this if the modlist checks off most of my other boxes
—> Grindy-ish progression/having to actually work towards rewards and honing your character.
—> Survival mode / more difficult

I have a fairly decent PC where i could run Lorerim without lag or crashing even after 8 hours of gameplay, so don't hold back!

Best modlist for a Mage playthrough

Been enjoying Tome of Talos and ElderTeej a lot lately, but Im looking for another pack to try, specifically one that would be great as a mage. Sometimes I feel modlists change combat so much to impact the feel of Melee, but Mage builds still feel like they dont change much, and combat encounters end up not feeling as dynamic as you become a high level mage.

Any suggestions for a list with the most engaging magic gameplay? Ideally it would add some difficulty (i dont want Reqieum, but dont want a pure Power Fantasy), and Legacy of the Dragonborn would be a great boon but not required.

Performance idc, my PC is really strong but im not a huge nerd for graphics, i can run lists like Lorerim at 60 FPS on 1440, but as long as long as a list is stable, i dont care if the graphics arent next gen.

Update prevention?

With the news that mod-breaking updates are coming for Skyrim - something that fans don't seem to want - how can I disable updates for my game in steam? Is simply renaming the install enough? That's what I have done to trick steam into making another install four times so far. I've got 5 separate Skyrim games loaded on my computer for separate modlists and I don't want them getting updated at all and screwing up my games.

How can we prevent updates to our Skyrim install, pending the upcoming Bethesda updatess?

Hi there! I was JUST about to install a modlist. Now I am concerned that the pending Skyrim update will break my mods.

Could someone please guide me on this? Are Wabbajack instances self-contained and immune from updates? If not, how can we circumvent the update? Thank you!

EDIT: The link in the thread below to a Reddit thread will help you prevent your Skyrim instance from updating. Hope that helps!

Advice for lorerim

After trying so many modlist from Nordic souls to niilvous(can’t say the actual cursed name) the one I find to be the most stable are GTS and Lorerim. Both are great modlist but I wanted something more so I tried Lorerim.

Holy shit why is this so hard??? This is my first actual play through of Skyrim and I’m getting blasted by a random bandit or fighting for my life vs a pack of rats. I’ve heard that requiem is a hard but I didn’t expect to get pressed like this!

This modpack actually has everything I want in it outside of requiem but I wanna try to learn it to fully enjoy myself. Any advice for Lorerim? I’ll take anything lol

LoreRim or Nordic Souls with a 3060 Ti?

I last played Skyrim a few years ago, and recently I’ve been seeing a lot of YouTube gameplay videos featuring different modlists. I’d really like to get back into it since I don’t have anything particularly interesting to play at the moment.

I used to mod Skyrim myself, but I always ended up spending more time modding than actually playing lol. After looking through different videos and posts, I’m thinking about trying either LoreRim or Nordic Souls.

I’ve also looked at GTS, which a lot of people recommend, but visually it doesn’t really impress me as much. Graphics are pretty important to me, and especially things like RP, character appearance customization, physics, new armor, etc.

I’d really like to try LoreRim, but it’s significantly larger than Nordic Souls, and I’m not sure if my PC can handle it. I’ve also never played with Requiem before, so I have no idea what to expect from that either. I don't mind a challenge but nothing in the type of Elden Ring or something lol

My PC specs are:

  • i5-13400F
  • RTX 3060 Ti 8GB VRAM
  • 32GB RAM
  • 2 SSDs
  • 1440p monitor

Would LoreRim be too much for my setup, or should I give it a try? And for anyone who has played both, which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Skyrim NSFW modlist for male characters

Hi friends, I'm looking for some mod list recommendations for playing with a male character. I've been searching for a few days, but it's never too late to ask for suggestions. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations you could give me.

A mod pack that’s the in between of Lorerim and the one modpack that’s starts with N

So I’ve been trying mod packs and it’s been hard to find out that both runs well on my specs and that I enjoy. I tried lorerim which is very stable and runs great on my system but it being requiem based makes it too hard for a milk drinker like myself.

I tried [REDACTED] which doesn’t run the best on my system but I don’t like it as much because it’s very overstimulating with all the slow motion kills and the constant hits of dopamine.

Is there a modpack you’ll recommend for someone like me? Im down for any suggestions.

My specs: 7800xt GPU, Ryzen 7 5700x CPU and 32GB of ram

(While waiting on Github to get back up and running) Can I get any recommendations for a modlist

I love as close to vanilla, so far I've been enjoying "A Phoenix Flavour", "Winds Of The North" & "Legends Of The Frost".

I especially love Adamant, blade and blunt and any of the mods from Simonmagus. Looking for as close to vanilla as possible but with a bit more "flavour" no new lands etc maybe just FSMP any recommendations that fits this?

Question about temporarily moving a modlist

Hello:

I currently have LoreRim installed.

I want to try ElderTeej to see if I like it more, but I don’t want to delete LoreRim.

Can I simply move the whole “LoreRim” folder to an external HD to free up space, then install ElderTeej?

Note: I won’t be playing LoreRim from the external, just storing it there temporarily while I try ElderTeej.

If ElderTeej requires me to initialize my Skyrim Steam game, will this affect LoreRim when I move it back? Or is the LoreRim folder self-contained?

Thanks for any help

Here's a novelty: A complete Skyrim overhaul in precisely 200 mods.

I watched this video a while back. It's a Wabbajack list that attempts to transform Skyrim as much as possible with as few discrete mods as possible. Kinda cool.

Elder Teej or Lost Legacy 2?

Hello:

I’m looking for an LOTD based list.

I want something that greatly improves visuals, is vibrant, and has tons of added quest mods and LOTD displays.

I’d also like something with improved combat.

Most importantly it needs to be stable after hundreds of hours.

Which of these 2 packs (or others) would you recommend?

Thanks!

I'm a dummy without AE

I bought skyrim way before the anniversary edition came out and was never able to get into it. My friend recommended that i try the game again with a modlist like tuxborn or nordic souls, but everywhere I look, they are all built around AE content. So are there any modlists worth trying out for a first timer who is just looking for a chill, simplified third person combat experience? I would really like to avoid spending money on a game that already feels overwhelming.
