Who are Weird Al’s musical arch-rivals?

As far as I’m aware, Al is mostly on good terms with the artists he’s parodied off of.

Well, except Prince ofc lol (cuz he refused to be parodied by Al, so Al has poked fun at Prince in a couple of his songs). Plus Coolio for a while but then Coolio later warmed up to the parody “Amish Paradise” a few years later, which is nice at least :)).

Other than those 2, does Al have any musical arch-rivals (aka people who refused to be parodied by him and/or didn’t like Al’s parodies of their original songs)?

Can I still use the meet+greet tickets if they are under a different name than my seat tickets?

Basically what the title says, my bf has the seat tickets in his account but the meet and greet are under my name. Will this cause any issues? Sorry if this is a dumb question lol

Alapalooza Thoughts

I’ve been aware of and casually enjoyed the music of Weird Al for most of my life, but I only recently dug into his discography and started going through the whole thing. Up near (but not quite at) the top of my ranking would be Alapalooza—it made me laugh the most, has a ton of stylistic variety (the REM and Peter Gabriel nods are executed so confidently, and RHCP is such an odd fit for Al that it really elevates Bedrock Anthem for me), and Jurassic Park is one of my favorite song parodies of his. I also really loved Achy Breaky Song… if only because I hate the original.

So, I was surprised a bit to see online that people think of it as being a bit filler, kind of meh, or not an essential record of his. It also seems like critics regard it as a sort of slump for Al. What are your thoughts on the record? Am I overrating it? I’d have preferred a polka medley rather than the cover of Bohemian Rhaspody that’s on there, but I still think it’s a pretty impressive showing and an explosive closer. The only albums I’d certainly rank above it are Bad Hair Day, Running With Scissors, and Poodle Hat… others I’d have to think about!

Which of Weird Al’s songs in some of his albums (the ones that didn’t get a music video) do you wish would’ve gotten a music video + why?

Personally, I’d have loved a music video of “Ode to a Superhero“ cuz the image of Al in Billy Joel’s 70s haircut whilst playing the piano would be kinda funny ngl lol 😂

A Portion of Ruben’s Statement about his cancer diagnosis during his livestream yesterday

Here is a portion of Ruben’s statement about their cancer diagnosis during their livestream yesterday - apologies for grammatical or spelling errors I was trying to work quick on getting this posted (and also I have not slept yet so I will be getting the full statement uploaded after I get a bit of sleep)

“My Doctor’s have diagnosed me with cancer. …but I’m in good spirits. I feel great, my CT scans came through, my body is good, my lungs are great, my heart is great, they still seem to think there’s something wrong with my brain - I have no idea what they’re talking about. But, I. Feel. Great. - and I looked at all the options - and yah know to share it with you basically - um I wanted to go out-its a five month tour and they told me that if I went untreated I would not last even half the tour. And they said that I’d be dead in about two months.

It’s bladder cancer, it’s rather aggressive, and you know what - I didn’t want it to be known but now I’m telling more and more people. And I see that I have a lot of beautiful friends.

talks about treatment plan

-And we’re gonna hope for the best and I’m in good shape, I feel good- that’s a big part of it -towards my recovery. And I am happy, I’m not scared, I tell yah, I’m not scared.

I wanted to go on the tour - because it would look like it would be my last time with AL. But after they told me what would happen and then once I asked them what would my life be like out there on the road- basically she made it sound like I would be in a horrendous state after a little while and then they would take me home. So I have chosen the treatments  - I feel great, I want you guys to not be concerned about me- i mean yah yah I’d be concerned but at the same time DON’T worry. DON’T worry - i feel- I’m up to this. Knowing all of you are thinking - it’ll just - it’ll just keep me going and I will get through this. You know what just to be able to be here with you guys - is gonna make all the difference in the world.

I’m sad not to be with al - but at the same time - i think I’ve laughs i-I think I’ve played eat it enough times that I won’t really miss it, it wont be really hurting me.”

Also apologies for not putting the accent on the e of Ruben - I’m on my iPad and didn’t know how to put it on there.

My wife surprised me with a singing telegram at my birthday party and it was incredible.

He also recited the entirety of Albuquerque a capella. Best birthday ever.
