Wes Anderson, Bill Murray Tease Western Project at Cinema Paradiso
variety.comFavorite Period in Wes Anderson’s Career?
Obviously this isn’t the end of his career, but I figured since he has twelve feature films under his belt, and they can be neatly divided into groups of four across his three decade career, this would be an interesting question to pose.
Overall I’m partial to his early work and his first four films but I’m sure others could make a strong case for his middle and even later period.
anyone know which polaroid cameras he uses?
i enjoyed seeing all of the polaroid photos at the design museum exhibition. the world of cameras is foreign to me, but i’m curious if anyone knows. thanks!!
Criterion Cinema at Hollywood Bowl
So I’m planning on attending and have already gotten my reservation tickets for the Criterion Cinema. Apparently it’s their first time ever doing this so does anyone have any guesses on what it could be? Kinda excited for this ngl.
Also where do yall suggest parking at? 🤔
The Wes Anderson Archives at the London Design Museum is absolutely worth attending
ESPECIALLY if you love Fantastic Mr Fox and Isle of Dogs. There are considerable numbers of props, set pieces, and costumes from every film but the puppet showcase was far and away the coolest part to me. They sit behind a fine mesh covering rather than glass which means its incredibly easy to take detailed photographs.
What’s your favorite Wes Anderson movie? Which one of those u think should’ve won Best Picture?
My 5 favorite Wes Anderson movies are:
- The Grand Budapest Hotel
- Rushmore
- The Royal Tenebaums
- Moonrise Kingdom
- Bottle Rocket
Which one of these would you pick and should’ve give it to Best Picture? I pick The Grand Budapest Hotel.
What's the most Wes-Anderson-sounding song that's NOT actually in a Wes Anderson movie?
I just heard the song Paper Chase by Richard Harris and that's my nomination: https://youtu.be/mSxxg\_wdIRs?is=h0v98Purmt3qrhNQ

Would appreciate it if you checked it out.

Wes anderson superhero movie
I’m sure this has been discussed a few times,
but what superhero or franchise do you think wes’s style would work with? I personally think a polka dot man movie with his brother sisters and evil mother sounds right up his alley!
Wes Anderson is probably the only director I can think of who would definitely pull off adapting HP Lovecraft
This is a thought I've had for a wee while. Even though it isn't precedented in his existing filmography, I feel like I'm perpetually waiting for the day that Wes Anderson decides to experiment with horror. I just have a general instinct he would excell with it in a way which might surprise general audiences who have developed a particular view of his work.
Specifically, I would perform actual literal blood sacrifices to induce a Wes Anderson adaptation of, for example, At The Mountains Of Madness. The reasons why the works of Lovecraft are notoriously resistant to adaptation all seem to lean into unique strengths which Anderson has cultivated over the course of his career. Purple prose, a reliance on monolithic imagery, protagonists of a particularly dry academic temperament, these things would get in the way of literally anybody else.
Especially with how he blended live action and stop motion in Asteroid City... idk to some extent this is a wild instinct as he hasn't really touched the horror genre at all to date (unless I'm somehow unaware of a time when he did, let me know if so) but it really feels like a match made in heaven.
He can definitely provoke feelings of dread when he wants to, and I can only feel that the way he'd approach non-euclidean escherian architecture, or animating Horrors like the Dread Shoggoth interposed over live-action footage, would if nothing else be deeply fascinating.
Even if he didn't end up literally adapting Lovecraft (not that he's above adaptation, mind you) I'd kill to see him do work in this general genre. Hell, original work would probably be preferable, but I also can't think of another director who's style is better suited to adapting Lovecraft specifically.
Mad Magazine Rushmore spoof!
I was at a flea market today and was looking through some vintage Mad Magazines since I've been collecting them for a while. One of them caught my eye because the cover listed Rushmore as one of the main spoofs in the issue. I picked this one up and five others for only $5 each! I had no idea that Mad spoofed Rushmore so it was awesome seeing this!

Just watched Wes Anderson’s life aquatic for the first time and wow.
was not expecting bill murray to be in a serious movie.
mr. fox
i love the movie. i love mr. fox. i think it’s one of the most characters ever written and there’s so much you can dissect, and it always feels like there’s yet more to explore.
i always think of mr. fox as being torn between the life he has made and his “wild side”, but he isn’t willing to embrace either completely. he wants more and more, and uses either his domesticity (i don’t want to live in a hole anymore it makes me feel poor, but foxes do live in holes) or his wilderness (im a wild animal, that’s why i steal) for his benefit. he isn’t either and he is both, and his feeling of dissatisfaction comes that. it’s also because if he wants to be fantastic, he wants to be seen only as the best, and if he falls short of it at all, he ‘doesn’t feel good about himself’. i think it’s this portrait of a deeply dissatisfied individual, who learns to be content. he is ultimately okay with being neither here nor there. and there is beauty in that. but obviously, it’s bittersweet. it isn’t exactly a win.
how do you read the character?
also, i know many people (myself included) who use ‘i don’t want to live in a hole anymore) to more themselves. but in the story, it’s actually just a rather sad indictment of that dissatisfaction. i’m curious to know what other people think of that line.

Wes Anderson Collection: Roald Dahl? Ever happening?
Hey, anybody know if there are any plans for a book on the Dahl shorts?
Thanks.
I made a Wes-style short film!
Hello, everyone!
I'm an independent French artist, and I just made a short film in a very Wes Anderson-esque style!
I used a lot of old-school techniques, like miniatures, which were built specifically for this film.
If you’re interested, I can also share some behind-the-scenes footage!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this little film.
I had a lot of fun making it!
