Aggressive Dogs in the West Village, anyone else?

Posting this as a reminder to stay vigilant when walking your dogs. Since getting my dog (cavapoo) we’ve had some bad dog interactions where owners say their dog is nice, the dog almost bites and then they walk away awkwardly with little to no apology.

While rude and annoying, it usually ends up being fine. However, my dog and I just encountered a Black German shepherd mix that almost got me and my dog. I walked deep into the street to avoid an older white man and his large black dog on Morton st. The dog snapped his head around, saw us, and was an inch away from grabbing my dog by the time his owner finally gripped their leash. When a dog reacts like this, I highly doubt it’s the first time (not the dog’s fault, more the owner needs to be more vigilant during the walk if they know their dog is reactive.) Has this happened to anyone else in this area?

I’ve met some other dog owners in this neighborhood that have expressed similar concern on the way a lot of these aggressive dogs are being walked—loose leash, no apology when almost attacking, and some even being attacked. Not sure there’s much to do about it other than to post this as a reminder to be mindful around other dogs. It’s so hard to avoid other dogs on these sidewalks, if anyone has tips please let me know.

Looking for Short-Term Household Assistant / Butler Experience in Manhattan (3–6 Months)

Hi all — slightly unusual post, but wanted to be upfront about the situation.

I’m a 35-year-old British male currently based in NYC with a master’s education and a background in business/startups. I’m in the process of founding a company in the household/personal assistant space and am looking to gain real hands-on experience working with a busy household or family in Manhattan for the next 3–6 months.

I’m specifically looking for a household assistant / butler-style role helping with things like:

Cleaning & home organization

Laundry

Grocery shopping

Running errands

Household management tasks

General day-to-day support

This is a very intentional and serious search — not a casual experiment. I understand it’s an unconventional setup and that it would be short term, but I’d genuinely like to immerse myself in the operational side of running a household and learn firsthand from the experience.

Because the goal is experience and insight rather than maximizing compensation, so very open to what works for you.

Availability would generally be weekdays for a few hours per day, though I can be flexible depending on needs.

I have valid work authorization/visas, can complete any background checks required, and can provide references.

If this sounds potentially useful to your family/household, please feel free to DM me and happy to discuss further.
