365 Brand: Ridiculously Stale Walnuts. Also, moldy tasting.

Wow, I've never, in my entire life, tasted walnuts this dried out and stale. My mom used to buy packaged walnuts at Safeway in Anchorage, Alaska that sat in our pantry for months and still tasted fresher than these ones from Whole Foods in Manhattan. Some of the pieces even tasted moldy and I had to actually spit them out! WTAF? Never experienced eating any nuts, anywhere, anytime this crapola.

What's up with Whole Foods these days? I remember the first store that opened in Berkeley in 1990. The produce was outstanding. I bought peaches once, left them in my apartment, and when I came home a few hours later and opened the front door, I was hit by the most amazing, powerful sweet smell of fresh aromatic peaches. They were firm and delicious and so juicy... like eating some kind of miraculous nature-candy. I mean, they were almost as sweet as canned peaches with sugar added, except they were just fresh fruit. Until that moment, I didn't even think I really liked peaches because all I'd ever had my whole life was baseballs shaped like peaches... dry and no flavor.

What has happened to Whole Foods? I guess it's time to finally hit the farmer's markets...

Anyone else frustrated that brands can quietly change ingredients after you’ve already vetted them?

My wife spends a lot of time on EWG before buying anything for our family — skincare, supplements, kids products. She’s really diligent about it.

But last year she discovered that a product she’d been using for months had been quietly reformulated. New ingredients she wouldn’t have approved. No announcement, no email, nothing. She only found out by randomly rechecking the label.

It got me thinking — EWG tells you if something is safe TODAY. But what about after you buy it? What happens when:

•	A brand reformulates and swaps clean ingredients for cheaper ones
•	A corporation acquires your favorite indie brand and quietly cuts costs
•	There’s an FDA recall on something sitting in your medicine cabinet right now

I’m building something called MyPureLabel that monitors your products and sends you an alert the moment anything changes. Just opened a waitlist at www.mypurelabel.com

But honestly before I go further I want to know — is this something the clean beauty community actually wants? Do you worry about reformulations? Has anyone here been burned by a brand changing their formula?

Would love honest feedback from people who actually care about this stuff. Thanks!

Appetizing and Salad Bar - such deterioration in all ways

There are four near me and I feel they’ve really deteriorated in availability, ingredients, consistency and the offerings.
The appetizing area in the store closest to me has been like 25% occupied. It’s empty and hardly anything in there and what’s there does not look very good. The salad bar is using more and more oils in the ingredients and it seems a lot of the stuff is now more the prepared food and it just seems to have a decline and what they offer in some of the things like the more expensive items have like disappeared. From day-to-day you can’t tell really what you’re going to get. I’ve gone there at times to get a salad bar which I’ve been doing for 20 or 30 years and I wind up with nothing because I can’t find anything on there that’s decent like I always did. And the bulk bins where they would normally have several types of nuts. They’re mostly empty and in many cases there’s one out of six or seven and the other ones just sit empty or they’ve removed them or they don’t sell them anymore or they’ve replaced organic whole natural with oil and roasted and everything else. Sorry to vent. It’s a bit shocking as they always walked on water and I’m not seeing that any longer at all. They seem to have become one less place you can depend upon.

What do you think about whole foods?

I just recently started going there because they have my beloved Driscoll organic strawberries. Other than that, I have just not been impressed with much of anything else, including the quality of their fresh vegetables . I should add, that I am kind of a picky eater and there are a lot of things that I don't like , some of them are esoteric things, that are probably pretty good. But I haven't seen it. It's Whole Foods still considered a good place to shop? Other than prices, of course.

Key Lime Ice Cream Sandwiches

Anyone else? I feel so alone in my love of key lime pie flavored foods (not just the pie). They took away the key lime flavored wafer cookies because I’m the only one that bought them 😢 I’m really hoping Whole Foods keeps these around. I’d like everyone to buy them so they don’t stop selling them!

Sourcing milk commercially from WF Market

I'm a coffee shop owner in NYC. I've been getting my milk from a wholesale distributor for over a year now, but prices and fees have slowly crept up to the point where I am now considering switching to 365 whole milk. Not only does 365 milk taste better, but it is a much better alternative from a convenience and price standpoint . I've looked into other wholesale distributors and they're all in the same range of what I am currently paying.

My questions are:

  1. Does Whole Foods offer delivery service for commercial customers? I know they offer a grocery delivery subscription add-on on the consumer side, but it seems this is unavailable for Business Prime - is this true?
  2. If WF products are indeed unavailable for Business Prime, could I just order from my personal Prime account and have the order be delivered to the business address? Do they have guardrails against this?

Iconic TTLA becomes sad TLT :(

I used to get the TTLA religiously. It was the perfect grab and go sandwich— on a delicious ciabatta with fresh avocado and and unreal aioli. It was like $7 too.

Now it’s $10.50, comes on a fake ass baguette roll, 2 pieces of sad lettuce, and NO avocado, just a sauce packet that is labeled “avocado” hahahaha. It’s so sad what happens to so many places that start making more money and get bought out by even bigger corporations they straight up do nooooot care. How hard is it to just keep the recipe so many people have come to love. The greed goes crazyyy to skimp out on AND change out the good ingredients because of costs AND then make it more expensive?????

Won’t be buying it again I can’t justify the cost of a baguette roll with a few pieces of tempeh, sad lettuce and tomato, and a plastic sauce packet labeled avocado

Truly awful and baffling delivery experience through Amazon

(This is regarding a Whole Foods via Amazon same-day grocery order)

I am very understanding to the realities that delivery drivers face: low wages, unfair expectations, large batches of orders, and lack of support often by amazon. That said, I tip well and usually don't report issues for fear of it negatively impacting a driver.

Today was different.

I put in an oder, set a good tip up front, and didn't think twice about it until 30 minutes after my delivery window when I still didn't have my order. At that point I look at the delivery map and it says 3 stops ahead of mine. Annoying, but alright. I call the driver through the number provided because I was concerned about food safety for my items that could spoil.

He yells at me and says I have the wrong number. Odd, but alright, maybe there was some kind of error in how we were connected. Again, I click on the option to connect to my driver (it dials and calls you through the app, mind you) and this time the driver (same person) says he is my delivery driver but that he is not coming because he doesn't feel well, and maybe he will deliver the groceries tomorrow. This was all barked at me rudely, mind you. This time I gave it back to him, and said that's not how this works, and that he had already picked up my groceries, this is a same-day delivery and I have perishable items, and he can't just refuse to deliver them or deliver them on a different day. At that point I am exasperated from being screamed at by this man, and I tell him that what he is doing is stealing my groceries. He keeps yelling and says "I'm not coming" and hangs up.

I go around in circles with the chat bot through amazon, which keeps telling me he is coming even after I tell them he told me himself that he is not. Clearly this is an AI chatbot. I call Whole Foods who gives me a number to call. I talk to a person who is absolutely flabbergasted at the driver refusing, and keeps insisting that he needs to connect with the driver before he can do anything, and the driver will not answer.

By this point I'm talking to customer service online and on the phone simultaneously. Finally I get them to offer a refund, but wow. What an incredibly frustrating experience.

Update: the driver now has delivered my groceries? I'm baffled. I don't know if it's because he was contacted by Amazon or what changed but the order is so late that I'll have to throw out all of the perishables.

Bulk coffee discontinued

I’m a sucker for WF organic breakfast blend coffee beans, best affordable light roast coffee I’ve found.

Have been buying it weekly for a couple of years now. Last week saw the whole bulk coffee section disappearing. Chatted with associates on the floor, they said WF dropped bulk coffee across all stores.

Looking for any info about the brand / supplier of that coffee. Neeeeeeed it (or alternatives to those beens)

Bran flakes

What happened to 365 Bran Flakes? They've disappeared. Amazon's site has some old stale ones. WF drops their own items, as for example - their Lemon-Lime soda. But they have Cheerios - huh?

As an aside, WF is the only big market around here that had a good number of sullen and outright rude check out and baggers. It's 50/50. The other stores have polite and friendly folks. Not a smile or even offering to help old folks by putting heavy bags in the cart or picking up one of those heavy soda packs. Not all, many are nice but they do have a significant number of rude ones. The floor personnel are helpful in finding things and answering questions.

Chocolate Sauce Quest

Hi! When I was growing up in like 2002/2003 my dad and I would go to Whole Foods and get this amazing chocolate sauce. I’ve been looking for it everywhere, but all I can remember is that the first ingredient was heavy cream and it came in either a hexagonal or octagonal glass jar. It also could have had either a red or brown lid and the label was pretty plain. If anybody has any ideas please let me know! It continues to be the best chocolate sauce I’ve ever had.
