Having my first YARG party this Friday!

I'm looking forward to having my first YARG party this weekend. About 8 or so dudes coming over to rock out. I've hosted Rock Band parties on PlayStation numerous times.

I have been using guitar, vocals and keyboard on my PC and monitor and it's been working great. Never bothered lugging the drums up to my office.
I just moved my PC to my home theater and hooked up the Rock Band 3 drums and the calibration is a mess! The normal pads seem to be fine but the bass pedals definitely feel "off".

I'll be messing with trying to get the calibration pretty well throughout this week. I'm thinking since everything else seems to work great, that I'll need to tinker with the input calibration for the drums and go from there. My method will be to pick an easy song like "we will rock you" and see what the numbers at the end of the song say and use those to tweak the input calibration. If anyone has any other methods that work well, let me know.

Also, for the stock ps3 drums, do those kick pedal settings with the threshold and stuff in the bindings section of the drums profile even do anything? I certainly didn't notice a difference.

I think the party will go well though and everyone is amped for the additional songs capable with YARG.

Auto-Sync Lyrics to Any Chart, Syllable-by-Syllable — in Your Browser

Charting vocals means finding where every single syllable lands, by ear, one at a time. It's the slowest part of making a chart. This tool does it for you.

Add Lyrics to a Chart — open a chart, paste the song's lyrics, and every syllable is automatically synced to the right spot in the song. Then you get a live Clone Hero highway to review and fine-tune before you download.

It runs entirely in your browser — no account, no uploads. Your audio and lyrics never leave your machine.

How it works:

  • Open your chart — chart folder, .zip, or .sng
  • Paste the lyrics — plain text, one line per phrase. Everything pasted gets aligned, don't include markup like [Chorus]
  • Align — every syllable is timed to the vocals automatically.
  • Review on the highway — each syllable shows up already placed, with the isolated vocal waveform drawn right on the highway so it's obvious where every line sits. Drag any syllable to nudge it. Play it back in real time.
  • Download — updated chart back in its original format (.sng or .zip), ready to play.

One syllable, one note, placed where it's actually sung — a clean foundation you can finish by hand.

Try it on any chart that's missing lyrics, or paste new lyrics over a chart whose vocals are off — it replaces them.

Feels near impossible to do well on Expert vocals, is there a way I can figure out what is happening?

Tested on a few songs I know the exact pitch to, but it seems like the circle is just not filling at the pace I'd expect it to.

I am wondering if it is something with my microphone not pushing the vocals through powerful enough. I have an audio interface and a XLR microphone, I had to tweak it quite a bit to hear myself.

There is a chance it is a latency thing too but even when I try to account for that, it still feels off.

What might I be able to do to help troubleshoot this?

OCTAVE - chart editor + auto-charter for YARG

Hello all! Been working on this for a while and it's finally ready to share.

What I set out to create A charting tool that was accessible for those who have never charted, and speeds up the process for those who already do.

What I ended up creating Desktop editor and auto-charting tool with a 2D piano roll, a live 3D highway preview that matches in-game, and a venue/timeline editor where lighting cues, camera cuts, videos, and stage effects sit on the same timeline as your notes. DAW-style stems mixer. Full .mid / .chart round-trip with no metadata loss. 100% local, MIT licensed.

...and many more things I couldn't list here!

Who is supported Windows, macOS, Linux.

>Note: macOS and Linux have not been fully tested, so please report any issues you see.

On the auto-charter (STRUM): Takes an MP3, YouTube link, or stems and outputs a full chart pack - drums, guitar, bass, keys, pro keys, vocals and harmonies with aligned lyrics. All difficulties included!

Here's what to expect:

  • Drums are the strongest by a wide margin. On songs that sit well, the output is close to a hand-charted pass.
  • Guitar, bass, keys, vocals won't always ship a perfect chart for you - they at worst frame the song so you're correcting a draft instead of starting from a blank timeline, they at best need a small tweak or two.
  • Pre-split stems improve quality noticeably across everything.

Please let me know where I went right and where I went wrong The Github is open to issues, so please report anything wrong or anything you'd like to see. Completely open to all criticisms and feedback.

A big thank you to anyone who takes time to try out the tool!! I am excited to see the community have some fun with it.

>On a fun side note, I had a paper published about the intricacies of the STRUM auto-charting model. Feel free to read for more technical details, including model benchmarks and more: https://arxiv.org/abs/2605.12135

Help us build the future of interactive e-drumming. Slopsmith: Open-source, free, and growing each day

One of the best ways to learn an instrument is through a fun, interactive approach. Unfortunately, music app developers rarely implement all the features the community actually wants. Because of this, u/xasiklas and the Rocksmith community decided to forge their own path and revolutionize how we play music interactively: Slopsmith.

Today, just 40 days after its creation, Slopsmith already boasts incredible features:

- Real Instruments: Play guitar, bass, piano, (and soon, drums) interactively following the proven formula of games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but using real instruments.

- Precise Note Detection: Highly accurate hit and note tracking.

- Audio Stems Separation: Isolate or adjust the volume of any instrument. Want to mute the drums of your favorite song so only your playing fills the room? You can.

- VST Integration: Connect your favorite VST software directly to the application.

- Full Practice System: Loop any specific section of a song you want to master.

- Instant Custom Songs: Upload any song, or create it yourself using the built-in song editor. With just a Guitar Pro (.gp) file and a YouTube link, you can be playing your favorite track within minutes.

- 4-Player Split Screen: Gather your band and display up to 4 instrument highways on a single monitor or TV.

- Multiplayer Support: Play together with others online.

- 100% Free & Open-Source: Absolutely free. Anyone can contribute, meaning literally any idea or feature can be added to the app.

As you can see, the guitar and bass experience is already incredibly robust. But now, we need to talk about drums.

Right now, our drum implementation is not that fancy. Most of our core developers came from the Rocksmith community, meaning our collective DNA is heavily biased toward stringed instruments.

However, we know there is GIANT potential for drums. Our goal is to become the ultimate, definitive tool for interactive drumming. We haven't reached a consensus yet on what the ideal note highway should look like—whether we should build an improved version of the Rock Band or Phase Shift layout, or create something entirely new that natively supports dynamics, open/closed hi-hats, ghost notes, and more.

What we do know is that just like we did with the other instruments, we can build our dream tool together as a community. Step by step, hand in hand, with everyone contributing their unique experience and best ideas.

Let's build the ultimate drumming tool together.

Lift note mode for gamepads?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to enable lift notes for playing on non-strumming (all taps) controllers, such as a normal gamepad. Many thanks in advance!

Microphone vocal delay even with audio interface

I updated the drivers for my Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen, and tinkered with settings and now there's a noticeable delay when monitoring vocals in YARG. It's almost delayed by a whole second..

I didn't have this issue before. Not sure if I messed up a setting, or the driver or device ID or something isn't right.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thrift Find, $8

No dongle, though. I figured worst case scenario, I could gut and/or mod it somehow. Anyone with experience connecting this to PC?

I’m aware this is a 6 fret from GHL. Already have a 5.

Do USB-C Mics work??

I have an El Gato Wave 3 mic, the game doesn't seem to pick up my mic. So I was wondering if it is not supported.

Penguin Chart Editor - a new chart editor with a new approach to custom charting

Hey everyone!

For the last year and a half, I’ve been working on a new chart editing software to make charting better, faster, and easier. As a charter myself, I grew tired of the clunky methods of charting that currently exist (namely Reaper and Editor on Fire) and decided to create my own software modeled after Dorico, a program used for creating sheet music known for its unique scorewriting process.

Penguin is structured to make the charting process linear. Each stage of charting is separated into its own “tab,” with its own feature set, tailored to the task at hand. Tempo mapping is made easier with a top-down 2D view for maximum precision (as well as an adjustable waveform for especially quiet songs), note placement is structured like Moonscraper for maximum ease-of-use and intuitive previewing, and starpower/section placement is built around full-band, side-by-side charting for ease in creating Unison Phrases and meaningful, well-placed sections. Metadata entry and exporting have extra features and settings to make creating and exporting a new chart as streamlined as possible.

Penguin currently only supports five-fret charting, but all modern instruments are planned: from GHL to Elite Drums to Vocals.

Penguin is currently in alpha, which means bugs should be expected and the appearance/feature set of Penguin is far from final. Windows is currently the only platform supported, but Linux is planned, and possibly MacOS.

I really appreciate feedback and feature requests, so please join the discord! I want to make Penguin the best it possibly can be and cover the charting needs of as many people as possible. I will also announce new versions and patch notes here, and will answer any questions you have. https://discord.gg/3QYRbTGzS5

This tool is not vibecoded (although bugs will still exist). Penguin is also open-source and open to contributions.

Download it here (via the Releases tab): https://github.com/EmperorJacoba/PenguinChartEditor

Trying to setup CRKD in yarg

Setup yarg and drums and everything works great. Today I went to add two guitars and every song I chose has no notes to play. I have it set to p1, I had to key bind both of them. Any idea what’s going on? I read that it should load and not have to key bind, but I needed to do it.

Info: yarg macos, CRKD connects Bluetooth, created profiles and key binding.

Build suggestions for a compact PC dedicated to YARG, CH, GH, Stage Tour etc

I currently have a R9 9900X, RX 6750 XT, 64GB RAM that I use to play these games on a 40 inch, ULTRAWIDE 3440x1440p monitor, but it's also my workstation which is only increasing in load so sometimes I get stutters, freezes, or just lag

So I wanted suggestions for something that can give me the same performance on this monitor, or higher fps but on a Small form factor, like a 1 to 4L case, that I can easily carry to my friends house for parties

It's important that it can sustain 144 to 300 fps locked with 4 people playing and venues activated

Any suggestions?

M1 Mac mini and YARG

Any advice to stop the stuttering and lag? I have put it in low performance mode, set resolution to 1080 and even 720, turned off any graphic related settings and the game is super laggy. I appreciate the devs on this so not complaining just looking to see if I missed a setting somewhere? It's pretty much unplayable right now which is a bummer since I've gotten all RB DLC setup drums.

M1 Mac mini 16GB RAM.

I have 2 song folders for the same song. One has bass.ogg, guitar.ogg, etc. The other has drums_1.ogg, drums_2.ogg, drums_3.ogg, rhythm.ogg, and vocals.ogg. Can I simply merge these? I'd be more confident if I knew what "rhythm.ogg" was.

Yarg on Steam Deck: I can get the game to recognize binds when mapping menu binds, but it does nothing outside of the Waiting for Input screen. How can I navigate YARG with my Steam Deck's native controller system?

I've tried both Enable Steam Input and Disable Steam Input.

To get it to recognize the binding process, I'm using the Steam Virtual Gamepad profile. It's just that after binding nothing works despite indicating it would work fine when doing the bind detection.

Multiple audio output options?

Hello! I'm brand new to yarg, just learned about it a few minutes ago so I don't know a lot of info.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to route the guitar audio and the backing audio to separate outputs on your computer or audio interface?

Or even pan the guitar to one side and the other audio to the other?
