Traffic lights were out at washtenaw & golfside along with washtenaw & packard as of 11:30~ be careful driving
DTE doesn't even know what power lines feed us now that they made all those upgrades in the spring?
We got the alert that our power was restored, we said it wasn't, they told us to flip the breakers, we flipped every single breaker, still no power.
Now DTE has no idea where the problem is or when they will fix it.
I'm so tired of DTE's unreliability!
Please tell me y'all got power back so we know at least some of us in the community have power restored.
Has anyone seen any DTE trucks around ypsi or had their power restored yet? Our estimate is currently July 5th 11:30pm but hoping for sooner…
I'm out in Augusta Township south of Ypsi, have been spotting this pair of peacocks in our woods and yard consistently over the last couple of weeks. From a distance they seem totally OK, not injured, I have seen them walk and fly. Humane Society people came out to try and nab them but were unable to, they're skittish when we try to approach them to wrap them up in a blanket. One of our neighbors has chickens (and chicken feed) which may be keeping them in the area. I'm not on Facebook but my neighbor posted there to no avail.
Have called around to places like Dawn Farm but can't seem to find their owner, assuming they were lost rather than deliberately dropped. If anyone can prove that these birds belong to them, I'll help you find them and recover them.
Does anyone know what happened to this cool kombucherie location, and whether they’re fully out of business? When did it close? Was looking to going back there this summer (their factory was also a tasting room w/ outdoor seating) and enjoyed their drinks, but I know it’s a pretty boutique thing even around Ann Arbor. Couldn’t find any mention of what happened.

I just sent this email to Wilson and Irwin
Hello Representative/Senator XXX,
I went outside to take out the recycling as this current storm ran through. As I was outside, the wind picked up, and I saw trees bend into the power pole in my neighbor's yard. That contact set off my neighbor's transformer and then a series of three or four more. DTE came through this late winter and trimmed our entire neighborhood. They are truly incompetant. We lose power here four to five times per year. I throw away hundreds of dollars of food each year, and I have also had to stay in hotels. I guess the only way for me to avoid this situation is to invest in a $10,000 whole house generator. Why does DTE have a monopoly on power in my area? Why is DTE more concerned about profit than providing their customers with reliable power? Why is there not an equitable reimbursement plan to help out customers who were wronged? Why is there not a voucher program for whole house generators? Why does DTE make the customers pay for upkeep, maintenance, and investment in solar and wind? Why on earth are these data centers allowed here when they will bury us in this current situation (not to mention the fact that burning more fossil fuels will make these storms a normal reality)? It seems we are at a precipice in which we need to make aggressive decisions going forward. I look forward to your response and what you plan for the "little guy".
Sincerely,
XXX

I'd recommend shopping elsewhere.
Hi all! Me and my boyfriend are considering moving to ypsi or Ann Arbor, but we can’t decide which one. So, I hope to hear some things comparing the two or I’d like to hear about events that happen around both cities!
Last night the skies were humid, but clear. Except, in the distance on the western horizon, pockets of lightning were flashing. Interesting to capture star trails and lightning in the same images.
Our power has been out for over an hour from the storm and we reported it to DTE back then, DTE is still playing games with all of us instead of giving estimates for restoring power.
(It's just after 8 pm)

I was out of town for the last bbq but was hoping she may organize another one, but i noticed her account was banned. Does anyone know what happened?
Hi, if you’re the person with the huge branch down that nearly hit your car, DM me and I can help you move it. I’m sorry if it did actually hit your car but it was kind of hard to see.
The light is also out at Prospect and Cross, don’t be an idiot and blast through it, it’s currently a blinking red traffic light. Give people a chance to take a turn.
Stay safe out there, and stay away from downed wires.
I think it would be fun to go to a coffee shop and read peoples' tarot. I wouldn't charge anything, but ask that if people found it meaningful to throw some money in the barista tip jar. Where would be the best place to go, in your opinion? Either Ypsi or Ann Arbor work for me, I love both places.
EDIT: THank you for your comments! I'm doing Sweetwater in Ann Arbor, but if I have fun I'll do it again at some of your other recommended places.
I want to get a present for my partner and I want to get her either locally made jewelry or some local art. I don't want anything corporate. Do you all have any recommendations?
Screaming for attention in my backyard yard (Woodlawn/Greenlawn Ave near Ecorse) Very friendly, medium fur, covered in burrs. I'm going to take her to the humane society if I can't locate the owner. Can't come in and it's too hot.
The cat is at the HSHV. The number to call is 734-661-3528
Why do people take so many unnecessary risks at this particular intersection? Boggles my mind...
just read this article about a new study estimating that vehicle emissions contribute to over 41,000 premature deaths a year in the U.S. It got me thinking about Ypsilanti. So many homes (esp. rentals) are right on busy roads like Washtenaw, Michigan Ave, Cross, Grove, Huron, and Packard.
Do you ever think about the long-term health effects of living next to heavy traffic? Should we be worried? Anyone ever chosen where to live in Ypsi based on air quality or avoided buying a house on a major road because of this?
