What layout did you use for your yurt? Is it working for you?

My husband and I are building a 30’ yurt in Texas. We are building an 8x12 attached bathroom outside of the yurt. I am deciding on the layout for the inside, and am honestly really confused looking at suggested layouts from pacific yurts and other companies’ websites. They all seem very crowded. I’m just hoping to fit two small bedrooms and a kitchen with a large enough table to do some homeschooling on as well as eating. Right now we live in 1000 square feet and it’s more than enough space, but looking at 800 square feet on paper just seems like it’ll be super crowded and awkward.

What is the value and desirability of this platform I built?

Hi All,

My partner and I had been living in our 22' Mongolian Yurt for 2 years with it set up on the ground. This caused significant damage to our yurt from shifting ground. I decided to build this platform to negate damage and to make yurt living more comfortable. Once built and set up, it became obvious that the damage was catastrophic with the yurt clearly leaning from the warping of the lattice walls.

I'm wondering what folks think about this platform as I am trying to feel out selling it. What you think it is worth? Do you think anyone would be interested in buying it? Would people be interested in a cross state line delivery or pick up from the American southwest? I spent $2.3k in materials 2 years ago plus my own labor.

It is a design that I modified from Trillium Domes pentagon design to an Octagon. It turned out really well, with the goal of being easy to disassemble and reassemble. All of the parts/pieces are of the same dimension so they can't get mixed up on reassembly and a piece can easily be replaced if needed. Whole platform is built with 2x8's and quality hardware. All girders are 2 2x8 glued and screwed together. 3/4" plywood for the floor with 2x4 blocking. 3/8 plywood bellyband.
