$1,000 Zelle Reversed After Binance P2P Transaction — Fraud and Immigration Consequences?

I made a $1,000 Binance P2P transaction. The buyer paid me through Zelle, the payment was credited to my account, and I released the USDT. Several days later, the Zelle payment was reversed, and my account was debited for the same amount.
Does anyone know what type of claim could cause this? Does it necessarily mean that the payment was reported as fraud/scam?
I’m also concerned about whether a banking issue like this could affect a future visa application to legally return to the U.S.

Get Zelle account un-suspended or reactivated?

A few months back, my wife got social engineered and someone got into our bank account and Zelled themselves $1,000. This was a mess but we changed our bank account and eventually got our money back. The last step was to re-activate her Zelle, which we had our bank deactivate while we were figuring everything out.

My wife called today and got transferred to a Zelle agent, who said that her account is going to remain suspended and there's nothing that can be done to reactivate it.

We're trying to escalate with the people at our bank who helped us get our money back, but is there any other way around this to get her Zelle reactivated?

Advice Please Help

Someone I knew for a year asked me once if they could use my zelle to have someone send her money, I thought it’d be simple so I told her it’s just my number and name, she’d then have me cashapp that money to a cashapp account that also wasn’t hers it was a mans cashapp the name wasn’t familiar to me, I did it anyways. After that one time she would have people send me money every other week and I would have to transfer it to a cashapp account or to another zelle account. The thing is she would never ask me if someone can zelle me money for her she would always tell me after they had sent it. sometimes she would go days without telling me she would just text me out of no where and say “hey someone sent you money for me a couple days ago”. Now she had 2 people send me a total of $410 and my account went to negatives. I told her it’s going to take me 2 weeks to get that money back and shes now threatening to send me to small claims court. Would she be able to take any legal action? She would never ask me if someone can zelle money to me until after it had been sent.

Zelle money never recieved, banks blaming eachother, Zelle support no help

Was sent $1500 from a friend 5 days ago. It was under review/payment on hold for 1 day by zelle, and then approved and the transaction was confirmed by the sender’s bank another day later.
They have showed me the recipient address is accurate (it is my email correctly linked to my bank account), and have also shown me the email/bank transaction history showing the confirmation number transaction statuses.

I’ve called zelle directly and they say the sender must contact their bank, and I’ve called my bank PNC who says they are unable to start a dispute because I don’t have the an email confirmation number that they need (even though I literally have the transaction ID from sender’s bank-Zelle account… I did not recieve any email notification on my end for the transaction at all).

I have filed a complaint with CFPB and await some action this upcoming week. But has anyone ever faced similar issues???? I’ve used my zelle to send money on this account, but this is my first time receiving, and PNC insists they don’t see any receiving transactions on their end for my bank.

Issue for over a month

Sent a guy money over a month ago, he changed banks on the same day I sent him the money.
I sent an initial payment and then a secondary payment with the same information and everything.
This was July 14th. After that the payment was held on my end for review from my bank, so an extra 1-3 days and it should all be good, nope. The payment is stuck in pending status on the recipients end.
I called Zelle, they didn’t really give me an answer, nor did my bank as to why it would be pending or why it’s held up, so this goes on for another week.
At this point me and the recipient are getting frustrated, he spoke with his bank and they told him he needed to speak with Zelle, I then called Zelle back to verify some things today.
I gave them the guys information asking “why it would be pending”, the money has been sent for over a month now, and come to find out the guys information hasn’t even enrolled fully with Chase Bank. Yet he has money sent to his account from other Zelle users…has anyone ever experienced this at all?

Question as a receiver

Someone told me that they sent me a payment but Zelle told them it can take 1-3 days. As the receiver, should I have received the notification that a Zelle payment was sent to me? Even if there was a hold? Or do I only get notified when it has cleared the sender end?

Haven’t received Zelle payment (8 days)

Hello,

I sold something to someone I met on Facebook marketplace. The transaction was in person. She asked if I would take Zelle which I said that’s fine.

I saw her pull up her bank (Wells Fargo) she asked for my phone number which I gave her. She even confirmed after she put my phone number in that it showed my name. I then got a txt from 58189 saying “XXX sent you $80 with zelle”.

The issue is I have NOT received it. I have had my phone number and email enrolled for years and have used Zelle in the past.

I called Chase the day of the transaction and the guy said it could take 1-2 days for the transaction to clear. It has now been 8 days and still nothing. I called Chase back and the representative was adamant that I got scammed as soon as I said Facebook. There’s always that possibility, but I’m really doubting I got scammed. I literally saw her pull up the Wells Fargo app and put my number in.

Any idea what i should do as my next steps??

Can they see any info?

I am going to guess the answer is no, but want to ask just in case: if I sell something I created to someone (yes legal) and they pay via Zelle, can they find out the bank name or any info? I don’t fully trust them and want to make sure their don’t hassle me or my bank after the sale. Thanks in advance for any help in this situation.

Open a Zelle Account Possible without Internet?

My MIL lives in a rural area. There is no internet, no cell signal and hence no email either. I would like to send her money by Zelle monthly. Is there a way she can sign up to receive funds?

I was thinking of driving her to the bank and trying to set it up there. I'm not sure if that is something that could work though.

Edit: Thank you for all the replies. There are many good ideas here that I can work from.

Wells Fargo closed my Zelle claim, but the recipient says her bank is waiting on Wells Fargo to recover the $500

I accidentally sent $500 through Zelle to the wrong person. I realized it immediately and contacted Wells Fargo to report it.
The recipient actually responded and has been cooperative. She told me that she contacted her bank and started a process from her end to return the $500. I have written/email proof of her saying this. She also recently told me:
“You will need to open another case in order to accept the funds… it is waiting on you on this end.”
Now I received a letter from Wells Fargo saying my claim was closed unpaid because the transaction was authorized by me. They said:
“An attempt will be made to recover the funds from the transfer however, recovery of the funds cannot be guaranteed.”
The letter also says that if Wells Fargo receives additional information, they can open a new case.
So I’m confused about what happens next.
Does this mean Wells Fargo’s recovery attempt is still pending, or did they completely stop the recovery process when they closed the claim?
If the recipient’s bank really has a return/recovery request waiting for Wells Fargo, what exactly should I ask Wells Fargo to do?
I have the recipient’s written confirmation and can provide it to Wells Fargo.
Any advice from people who have dealt with Wells Fargo/Zelle recovery would be appreciated.

Phone number cannot be used to enroll? Charles Schwab & T-Mobile issue!

Hey all! Posting here to see if anyone had a similar issue as me. I’ve been a T-Mobile customer for 14 years and been with Schwab for over 6 years. I changed my phone number 2 months ago and am unable to enroll my number through Zelle (with Schwab). Client services keeps saying there’s a name mismatch / no name tied to my phone number. T-Mobile confirmed my full legal name is tied to my phone number and the caller ID (I even called my office number and saw that my full name comes up as the caller ID).

I had a similar issue 3 years ago with my old number, but don’t remember how I fixed the issue. Zelle support confirmed the number is eligible but my bank keeps stating the verification step fails as my name is not appearing tied to my phone number. T-Mobile is unable to assist further since their side is all updated.

Does anyone have a similar issue and/or know a fix? Schwab support is unable to manually push the number enrollment due to security protocols, and using my email for Zelle is a little too personal for me (especially since it’s a private email). I’ve always preferred just giving my phone number for Zelle payments and requests!

Any help would be appreciated! This has been ongoing for 2 months and it’s driving me nuts! Do the caller ID databases take a few months to update? Could that be the issue? Thanks!
