October 2026 dates from Houston changed? What does this mean?

Hi everyone! My husband and I were looking at going to Tokyo from Houston, TX in October this year. Our plan was to leave Tokyo on October 19th. Zipair had prices and flights for this day about two weeks ago and now they are gone. You can't even choose October 19th as an option anymore. What could this mean? Did the flights sell out? Will there be another chance to book that date? It is 4 months away so I'd be shocked if it sold out but I'm just not sure! Help would be appreciated, thank you!!!

Screwed over booking flight with child

I’m currently going back and forth with Zip pushing for a refund, wonder if anyone else dealt with this.

Booked our flight YVR to NRT, travelling with our 5yo. I wanted checked bags for my husband and I, and understand she gets free seat selection but my husband needs to sit with us too. I understand you can only buy the same package for everyone, so I tried to proceed without selecting anything since it says to contact customer service if you want to do this. However, because we’re travelling with a child we’re required to select seats to get through the booking process, which we were going to be charged for since I didn’t select a package. Given that, I went back and selected a package for us assuming I could get refunded after.

Wrong. Zip says no refunds on packages and I should have bypassed the seat selection page. I’ve taken a video to show them there is no way to do that when travelling with a child.

For those in this predicament, how did you correctly book? Can you pay for the seats the upgrade to a package later?

Zip full flat ticket change question

So, I booked the Zip Full Flat seats from Narita to LAX in August. I thought I booked the flex biz cause I might have changes for my trip like staying longer abroad and so on.

I checked my email to look for the confirmation # and I see that I didn't book the flex biz so i dont have the option to change my flight or get a voucher.

anyone know if its possible for me to change my flight to a later date/time without incurring a penalty where I have to flyout the day i booked?

thanks in advance

Voucher not valid???

I canceled my return flight yesterday as I had to shorten the trip by a week. I purchased flex biz and received my voucher. My trip is in October btw.

I tried to rebook my flight and it was not allowing me and said “voucher is not valid” I’ve contacted customer service but have not heard back. This is for my return flight so it’s okay for now but I am getting a bit stressed out.

All the information is the same, passengers the same, etc. the return flight voucher will not fully cover the rebook and I’ll have to pay a small amount coming back but why is it not working? Has this happened to anyone and how did you fix it?

For NRT, does carry in get weighed after check in?

I want to do some shopping after I check in and go past TSA, but will Zipair staff weigh my carry on and personal item again at the gate before boarding? This is for NRT. 2 years ago when I flew back home through NRT staff didn’t, but not too sure about now. Thank you!

ZipAir LAX to Narita, June 3rd

Who else was onboard this flight and how badly did it screw your plans over? One person was able to single-handedly ruin a bunch of trips. Anyone have any info? Thank you so much b

Japan kitchen knives

hello

I leave back to the U.S on the 8th and I’ve been contemplating on getting a Japanese kitchen knife for a family member who loves cooking. does zip allow these in my checked luggage ? will the knife get seized if I were to try and fly back home with it ?

just concerned and wonder if anyone else has successfully brought a knife back to the U.S.

thanks for any responses! (NRT —> LAX)

YSK: You can only select the extra legroom seats if you don't choose the package option, otherwise you'll end up paying again for a seat change

Don't make the same mistake as me. I was booking through the ZIPAIR website and chose the Premium package with seat selection included as that was the only option with both seat selection, carry-on, and checked luggage included. When I went to choose my seat, I saw that the extra legroom seats were crossed out. I assumed this meant it had already been reserved, so I went ahead and chose a regular economy seat. It wasn't until I paid and went to edit my reservation did I realise that those seats actually are available, they just don't show up if you choose the package deal. It then wanted me to pay a second time just to switch to the extra legroom seats...

I ended up just cancelling the whole flight altogether (since I'm flying to/from North America so full refund is given within 24 hours of booking) and rebooking without the package since I didn't actually want any of the inflight meals and amenity kit add-ons anyway. After clicking no package and adding the seat selection as its own add-on, I was able to select the extra legroom seat without paying twice basically. Hope this helps save someone a headache in the future!

Flying from SJC to NRT checking in tips!

Flying zip air from SJC for the first time this week and wondering how the check in process is. Do you do it online or do you do it in person? How early do you suggest coming I’m not checking in any bag and I have TSA pre check. Thank you!

Passengers

Looking into Zipair but have heard that the passengers can be unruly on many flights (like what we see on Frontier and Spirit flights in the US). Has anyone experienced this?

Just flew lie flat LAX to NRT

Just off our flight and wanted to review our experience. We are all 3 US citizens and were all able to check-in online the night before. Since we were traveling carryon only we went through TSA pre check and did not stop at the check in desk. After having breakfast we went to the gate thinking they would weigh and tag our bags there but they did not even look at them. We did have to get a paper boarding pass so I asked and the agent said it was not necessary.

The lie flat seats were very comfortable in a 1-2-1 configuration even better than the JAL seats that are 2-2-2. We ordered two meals. The beef was good and the chicken OK airplane food. My husband ordered the soba cup noodles and liked them. All in all it was a good comfortable flight with nice flight attendants. This was our 4th trip to Japan and all the others were in business using airline miles. I think the best part of business class is the seat and zip air compared favorably with all the others.

ZIPAIR LAX → Tokyo questions (seat space/recline/lie-flat/sales)

Hi! My bf and I are thinking about trying ZIPAIR from LAX to Tokyo, and I’m trying to figure out what the actual experience is like.

I’m fine with the low cost stuff (paying for bags, limited food, weight restrictions, etc) but my main concern is space/comfort for a long flight. My bf is tall so I’m wondering:

  • Do the regular seats recline?
  • Are they REALLY cramped or just normal economy?
  • Is the legroom survivable for a 10-12 hour flight?
  • Any specific rows/seats to aim for or avoid?

I also saw people talking about the lie-flat seats. Are they worth it? I’ve never flown anything like that before so I’m curious what the experience is like and how much they usually cost compared to regular economy.

Also, 2 days ago I saw roundtrip fares around $600 from LAX to Tokyo and now the same dates are closer to $900. I saw people mention sales. Did I miss one, or do they happen regularly?

Thanks!

When to buy tickets?

I want to travel to japan around August or September (whatever’s cheapest i’m broke). Currently, i can get one way to tokyo for $258 from LAX on August 8th, but these prices started to fluctuate heavy and the return flight became over $400-$500. Will there be another sale for September? Or should I settle with the $700 flight.

Guitar on board or check-in

Hi everyone, I'm currently in tokyo and bought myself a guitar. It's a neck through model hence I can't take it apart.

Based on the zipair website, a baggage charge will be applied . I've also emailed the customer service and they tell the same story that it has to be checked.

Just wondering if anyone has successfully brought an instrument onboard zipair ?

Otherwise, I'll have to get a hardcase and pray it survives the cargo hold.

Thanks in advance!
