just moved into a new tract built home, tree appears to have girdled roots after i dug the flare out from under the little mulch volcano they made. Anything I can do to help it out?

Whatever this little guy was dashed from my yard to the woods before my dog or I noticed.

I think it may be a gray fox, I thought tabby cat at first till he turned to look at me and I saw the reddish neck and bushy tail but I’ve never actually seen a fox in person before.

Google image search said it was a bobcat but I’ve seen plenty of bobcats living near a nature preserve to know that this absolutely is not a bobcat.
