Beginners—how are you learning?

Just curious how other adult beginners are going about learning. Right now I’m watching YouTube videos and looking at online tabs. I am very much a beginner with about a month under my belt. I’ve never been great at practicing instruments but tin whistle seems fairly easy to pick up and have some fun with for a few minutes every other day or so. By just doing that I’ve seen decent progress in my short time playing.

What are you doing to learn? Do you find more formal lessons keeps you engaged or do you like to go at your own pace and on your own?

New Brunswick Genealogist?

Can anyone recommend a genealogist with a focus on New Brunswick? I’ve reached a wall for finding additional documentation for my ancestors and I’d be interested in personal recommendations from this group rather than hiring someone blindly from a list. My direct ancestors were in NB for only a few decades before moving to the U.S. but I’m curious if any of the siblings stayed there and put down roots.

Edit: Adding a little more info: they were Irish Catholic. I have found some records through Drouin and worked with the Archivist at the Cathedral of St John but things start to get more complex when a second marriage took place after a spouse’s early death.

I was recently given a few bins worth of old family photos and papers—some dating back to the 1800s. They were stored in random old albums or sometimes loose in piles in plastic bins. I would like to properly organize and store them as best I can for the future. I was looking at something called the “heritage album” from University Products but have no idea if it’s a reputable trusted source. I’m assuming I want some kind of acid free solution but would appreciate if anyone could point me to some resources or instructions on how to approach this. Thx!

Went to Salem as a kid but that was decades ago. What are some favorite spots I should check out? Looking for historical sites, witchy and crafty, shops, and a few good restaurants.

Hoping to visit the newish memorial, the house of seven gables, and getting in lots of frivolous shopping (books, supplies, craft items, etc.).
