Whose redemption/atonement were you more invested in?

Whose redemption/atonement were you more invested in?

I personally found Endeavor’s arc to be a lot more intriguing because it was honestly refreshing to see a father understand and recognise just how much damage he did to his family and genuinely wanted to be a better man and hero for them

I also really appreciated how it didn’t frame him as this misunderstood or tortured guy because no he genuinely was just an abusive prick of a father who let his ambition consume him. We got a lot more context for that ambition sure but not justification which I think was really well done

One other thing I really appreciated about Endeavor’s story is that he didn’t demand or expect any forgiveness from his family, again it was just really refreshing to see a parent wanting to do better without expecting his family to just automatically forgive him because of that, nor should they have

I dont have as much to say on Bakugo’s development though it didn’t feel quite as fleshed out as Endeavors. I did like that it was clear that he was changing for the better but they still kept his core personality in tact. I think a lot of redemption stories fall into that trap where the writers try to make a clear effort in showcasing that a previously antagonistic character has changed but they kinda screw up and turn them into a pushover but that wasn’t the case with Bakugo which I am so glad that didn’t happen

I did also love seeing just how much things improved between him and Deku in the end. It was very sweet to see them become so close

I don’t blame Melon for this

I’m not saying what he did was right but I don’t feel bad that he killed her

I am someone who has been abused by my mother in similar ways to what Melon went through. I cannot help but feel deeply affected when I see any kind of storyline involving male victims of female abusers because I just know for a fact that they have likely had to put up with people making the saddest, most pathetic excuses for their abusers all because they don’t view it ‘as bad’ like they would if the genders were swapped

I’ve seen people say the usual disgusting shit regarding Melon’s mother like ‘Oh she’s still hot tho’ or ‘it should’ve been me’ which is already maddening enough to read but the one counter argument I’ve seen that boils my blood the most are the people who question if Melon’s abuse actually happened or if it was just ‘all in his head’

And look I don’t mean to keep being *that guy* and while yes I understand Melon isn’t exactly what you would call ‘stable’ but would these people really be so quick to doubt his abuse if it was a girl recounting how she was abused by her dad? I’m not so sure and that is fucking ludicrous. I find it almost ironic how people think Melon’s abuse was a figment of his imagination when he was forced to endure being a part of his mother’s own sick and twisted fantasy

Sexual abuse is an unforgivable act no matter which gender is the victim of it but I am so fucking sick and tired at how people do all these mental backflips when they find out the abuser is female. And it’s not lost on me how in the world of Beastars, society still sees Melon’s mother as a victim. I know Melon had no other method of covering his tracks but it still must’ve felt nauseating having to listen to people tell him how sorry they were that his abuser was dead

I’m sorry I know this was a heavy post. Melon is a character that has quickly grown precious to me because I know just how emotionally damaging growing up with an abusive mother is and how even more damaging it can be when people are dismissive of it because you were a boy

So where exactly does LegoHaru stand in the fandom?

I wanted to ask this because I’ve been a little surprised at just how little people seem to care about these two as a couple lol. A lot of it seems to stem from the fact that people either don’t like Haru all that much or think they both have very little chemistry with each other

I think they are…ok? I probably lean more towards not liking them tho. I think my main gripe with them as a couple as I’m still not sure why they love each other exactly? 😅

I feel like Legoshi viewed Haru as more of like a mission than actually loving her for she was. I mean in season 2 he pretty much freezes her out and she’s understandably frustrated by this because (at that point) he made no conscious effort to have an actual relationship with her. I get that he thought he had to but you can’t just cut her off and then have the audacity to get territorial when she mentions she hanging out with another guy! You can’t expect her to just stop living her life and wait for you until you wanna stop being a vigilante 😭

I mean Haru wasn’t even his first kiss, Riz was!

It’s so weird because I think literally every other notable character knows Legoshi more intimately than Haru does, you could even make the case that he made more of an effort to get to know and understand Melon

And to be clear I’m not even that big of a fan of Haru either but I feel like people are very biased towards Legoshi when they talk about why they dislike them as a couple which I don’t think is fair because Legoshi could definitely be very annoying at times as well

Anyway sorry I know this post was a little long but where do you guys stand with Legoharu? Do you like them together?

I sometimes wonder how different things would’ve been if these two grew up together

I know that this wouldn’t really align since Melon is a few years older than Legoshi and I don’t know if having Legoshi as a friend would’ve had any effect on what transpired during Melon’s childhood (that woman who raised him was a fucking monster) but his backstory just breaks my heart so much that I wish he had experienced at least some semblance of kindness or love that was genuine and not laced with sick perversion from a vile woman who called herself his mother

I know Legoshi didn’t have the same experiences as Melon as far as growing up as a hybrid but he did have his own set of struggles; the most obvious being his mothers suicide which I think would actually be the driving force behind wanting to be friends with him. I think that was also largely why he tried to talk things out with Melon at the beach in the canon timeline; he never said anything to his mum the night before doing what she did so he didn’t want to make that same mistake with Melon, now I know those two situations aren’t the same but I do feel that had a lot to do with why Legoshi was so adamant about giving Melon a chance and not just a case of Legoshi being too nice for his own good

Again, I don’t know if Melon having Legoshi as a childhood friend would’ve changed anything, I just wish he would’ve had someone :(

How do you think Kirishima would’ve reacted if he found out just how bad Bakugo’s bullying of Deku was prior to UA?

I don’t bring this up as a way to discredit Bakugo’s development because he did grow a lot throughout the series but this is a question that has always lingered in my mind

I know you could take this question and apply to any of the other 1-A students as well but Kirishima being the one discovering this intrigues me the most given how he was the first one to befriend Bakugo and quickly gained an admiration for him

This is a bit of a side tangent but I’ve always found Kirishima’s admiration for Bakugo to be a bit odd considering the type of character Kirishima is and what he stands for/represents, I kinda view it as a paradox of his character because on one hand I get that he was able to see through Bakugo’s bravado and respect how dedicated he was to becoming stronger but it’s so confusing because that need to become stronger was purely due to ego while Kirishima’s reasoning for becoming as strong as he can was out of selflessness, turning himself into a shield that would never break in order to protect those around him. I just find it hard to believe that Kirishima would be so quick to befriend someone like Bakugo

One other factor that keeps this question lingering in my mind is that I wonder how Kirishima would feel knowing that Bakugo was bullying the same guy that he heard leapt into danger to save him despite being quirkless at that time. I feel this is significant because part of Kirishima’s insecurities was that he thought his quirk was lacking so I can only imagine how that would put things into perspective for him

I don’t say all this to bash on Bakugo because I enjoy his character a lot and it’s been wonderful to see how much he’s grown but I can’t help but feel like he got away with too much shit in those early seasons lol

What do you guys think? How disappointed do you think Kirishima would’ve been? Or do you think he would’ve been able to look past it?

Who do you ship Legoshi with?

Do you already love his canon relationship with Haru or do you prefer him with someone else? :)
