"Putting myself back out there" has made me even happier to remain single for the foreseeable future.

Freshly 40yo and made the grave error of deciding to "put myself back out there" and jumped on some dating apps after 2.5 years of being single and celibate.

Over the span of 3.5 months:

Guy 1 - Majorly lied to me about his employment status, and just no effort in anything across the board. I called him on his lack of effort, and he said it gave him "bad vibes."

Guy 2 - Matched with a guy I met briefly 8 years ago (though hadn't seen since.) Talked every day for a month, 3 fantastic dates that spanned nearly 30 hours total including 2 hours of kissing until the sun came up. He wanted a 4th date but also said he wasn't ready to stop talking to/meeting other women despite me making it clear I don't date people who are leaving themselves open to meeting/dating others simultaneously.

Guy 3 - Told me during our 1st date he wanted to explore ENM. I'm very monogamous which is prominently stated on my profiles.

Guy 4 - Became majorly obsessed with me very quickly to the point that he was offering to get a vasectomy because I was "the person he's been looking for his whole life".. we had only chatted for 2 weeks and had 2 dates. Limerence to the max with a heavy dose of anxious attachment, which I don't fuck with.

Apart from that it was countless time wasting short chats with men who were ultimately just looking for sex, someone to knock up (which is wild for my age..), or a mother to take care of their kids and/or them.

EXHAUSTING. I've deleted all my app profiles and have decided to focus more on improving my physical health, and get back into reading romance novels to get my fix since real men seem to still suck quite a bit.

At least it was all a good reminder that being alone is infinitely less stressful than all the noise men bring into my life 🫠
