Gex is a part of videogame history at the Natural History Museum.

For context, it’s a special exhibition for the history of videogames for the different consoles generations over the years. The 3DO got a spotlight and showing off Gex!

Edit: It was the science museum, not natural history lol.

Do people actually take YouTube advice seriously? Most of them are from non-creatives.

It’s actually a weird title because there’s so many posts or videos who make an actual living telling others how to do YouTube but never once has created anything or been through the creative process. But yet get a huge following from how to videos to blow up on YouTube. They always use the same generic advice or flat out regurgitate topic under the guise of wanting to ‘help’ smaller creators.

If you’re lucky they will sell you a course. I hate how the desperation and resentment of being a smaller YouTube is weaponised by people want to make profit off it. But people keep on falling for the scam.

Not all advice is bad. I’m just baffled it became a business model and it’s paid at a premium. All these people who give this advice, don’t have channel or if they claim they had it one, but never show it off for that credibility. You just have to take their word for it. It kinda feels manipulative and lacks any transparency.

Also, considering this is an entire genre of YouTube video even coming them no name people trying to go by a meta. Is it really fair to call them content creators and start dismissing these people? Most of their views and growth is superficial because it’s weaponising the desperation of smaller creators which isn’t fair on us to be honest. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. What do you guys think?

I’m going to go straight to the point. What’s everyone motivation to even posting on YouTube when you know inside you might never he reach the heights of success you want?

I’m only starting out with very few videos. While they aren’t the best quality. My thumbnails and audio needs work. I do ask myself if I really need to go all in with it seeing how most of the time, everyone wants to clone of MrBeast or any other popular content creator in order to be monetised.

Also, I feel like everyone here obsess on much over metrics like CTR and viewer retention (AVD) when we know inside it’s all rigged and it’s all based around following metas and trends at the end of the day. Not making original ‘good’ content. Even with the criticism I feel like we really want eachother to be a clone of someone else then embracing the originality of the content.

Back to the question, do people actually like posting to YouTube for the sake of it, or do they like the idea of YouTube bring an escapism to become a possible job (I.e doing being a full-time YouTuber) instead of what they are currently doing? I feel like the latter is pretty unhealthy since it’s not guaranteed.

It's been on my mind, does anyone here watch small content creators out of leisure? I know this subreddit is mostly for critique and feedback. But, I feel like a lot of the time, this subreddit is mostly made for people who want to make it big than actually supporting the smaller guy.

It's always about the competition and how to stand out. But, I feel like people here don't genuinely enjoy watching people smaller than the biggest channels. When I talk about small, I'm saying like around 5K or under? Yes, the quality isn't the best, and I'm gulity of this too. But it feels weird to hold smaller channels to the same standard as someone who's well established which makes others more likely to quit.

Then, a lot of people are on youtube to make money these days, and not enjoy the process. So I don't know? Do you guys actually watch the smaller creator or is it all performative and you don't care about them really? Like care enough to critique them, but not so much as watching them. I want to know y'all thoughts.

I know the whole shtick people share their content and critique other content creators for the sake of improving eachother. But, I want to know if people in this sub or in general actually watch smaller or upcoming content creators? Like I'm talking about like even under 5K or something? People always go on about the sheer competition of it all. Or any milestones or 'advice' to others? But, I will be hard pressed to find people in this sub who actually like watching smaller content creators over the more established ones.

I get hanging around this subreddit. I get it's harder to watch people who are starting. But, it feels kinda sad, we can be a part of the problem sometimes. Even giving superficial reasons not to watch someone who's starting out and holding them to the same standards as someone who's been in the game or succeeded for years for other reasons.

What do you guys think? Do you guys watch smaller content creators or it's just performative because you're in the same boat as everyone else on this subreddit.
