Diving into this hobby.

I got a disabling injury semi-recently in life so a lot of the things I use to do just are not an option anymore. But swimming is pretty much painless. I found a green fin fun tail with a monofin pro at goodwill and that started it all, I ended up hunting down tails for pretty much my whole friend group, just off by a couple monofins.. so almost every day for about month we have been meeting up at the pool and swimming. Even some of my elder neighbors have put on the tails and tried them out, haha.

So far I got:
• Green Fin Fun tail + Monofin Pro — $5 at Goodwill
• Blue Amazon tail — $5 at Goodwill
• Blue Fin Fun tail + Monofin Pro — $5 on OfferUp
• Limited edition Zombie Fin Fun tail — $5 on Facebook Marketplace
• Limited edition Galaxy Fin Fun tail + Monofin Pro — $11 on vinted
• Blue SHEIN tail — $4 on vinted
• Another Fin Fun Monofin Pro (the blue advanced/reinforced one) — $20 on Facebook marketplace.

Someday I definitely want to get a nice fabric tail, I can’t lift really heavy tails like silicone because of my nerve damage and sciatica, but I’ve seen some very nice fabric tails. I’ve been interested in mermaiding for at least 10 years but never got around to it, never found tails in the wild like this before either. I think I got my push of luck recently after dealing with so much crud. I’ve been swimming pretty much my whole life so I’ve got good bearings too. My goal (in time) is to go to Catalina island and get some pics off in the ocean with the Catalina islands mermaid team (I’ve discovered them recently- I think that’s my current “dream”).
I remember wanting a tail when I was little but my mom said no, haha so I just let it go till I was a teenager and found my interest again.

Anyways, I’m glad to be here!
And I’m glad I have some friends enjoying it with me.

I like to think maybe I can turn it into a side gig someday because I’m actually physically capable of this, and it’s fun.
I’ve also bought a bunch of diving toys, me and my fish friends dive for them with the tails, it’s also great exercise :)

Skipper thrift rescue!

Found her with a couple other dolls and a bunch of clothes, cleaned her up and stuck her in some of her clothes that came in the bag with her! I love this outfit so much. Haha.

I almost had a heart attack thinking she had pink mold, but it was just her “rosy cheeks” painted on.

I have no idea what was on her face. But it came off really nice. I washed her head inside and out. Literally.

I’m so heartbroken. 😭

I saw her behind the counter when I walked in and got so excited but when I went to check the price… The thrift store matched eBay. I’m so sad. 😭

Decided to just make my own. First try!

I got it at Costco for ~$30. I cut it up and cured it in the fridge. I have some good cured frozen fish now too for later, and I had to try some fresh, so I made sashimi! I’ve never cut fish before so I feel this is probably a great first try for me. I’ve seen too many videos and have wanted to do this for a long time! It’s a lot more affordable. Now I have salmon for different sushi too. :) I also cleaned up the fish hide, and I’m drying it to use for other stuff later.

Edit:
honestly I thought this was salmon. It was put next to the salmon and I didn’t even notice. But regardless it taste really good still and I’m not disappointed too much. But next time I pick up fish I’ll be looking a LOT closer.
It taste very close to salmon too. I didn’t really notice the difference till I saw the comments here. Oops!

Scored this at Walmart. Has anyone put it together yet? How big is it?

For me, this is a score. I love finding avatar stuff randomly. I didn’t realize they had puzzles, I noticed there are others after googling it, now I need to keep my eye out for those.

The E and H were backwards on the chain, so I had to take some pliers and switch them.
I didn’t notice right away, and even when I did notice, I didn’t realize till my friend said it looked like my bag said “HOE” ☹️💔. But it’s okay. It’s all better now.
Took the small chain off too with pliers as it didn’t have clips.. and Put the shoulder strap on. :)

But I love it, it’s very pretty. Got it for $20 at Ross. 🙂
