Bethesda Game Studios has announced a new update for Skyrim on consoles, scheduled to release Thursday, August 20th, 2026. This post will serve as an up-to-date thread for what we know now and what will come once the patch goes live, all confirmed details will be added here.

For now, here’s everything we know:

Increased Mod Storage Limits

Bethesda stated that this update will increase mod storage capacity on consoles. They haven't specified how much space we're getting. But this post will be updated once the patch notes are released.

Improvements to Creations

We can only assume it'll be like Fallout 4's, some important ones to note are:

  • Archives are now supported on PlayStation. New file types (.nif, .dds, .bink, .cdx, .csg, .wav, and .fuz (with embedded .wav)) for PlayStation Creations.
  • Creations up to 2 GB in size can now be uploaded for Xbox.

Load Orders Should Not Be Affected

In the Tweet, they said this update should not disrupt existing load orders. But they encourage players to log into your save game if you haven't done so in a while as a precaution. I guess to save the Load Order using the function in the Creations menu.

Anyway, that's it for now. The previous discussion was technically based on a Tweet made for Fallout 4 and so now this will be the official thread for Skyrim. I hope we are able to provide more useful information here regarding the update. Just because we will have more space, doesn't mean modding guidelines change and I am sure players will experience problems if they aren't aware of what's happening.

Also, I won't be removing the other posts, but I do encourage you guys to discuss things here.

Happy modding! I won't be around much; I have things going on right now, but I will definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Potential Skyrim Update - Mega Thread

Some of you guys may have seen this, Tweet.

And I'm sure this has sparked a lot of ideas. I would love to allow you all to discuss this without getting a bunch of repetitive posts regarding this new information.

So, please, discuss to your hearts content in this Megathread. Nobody knows what it is about and many are immediately jumping to the conclusion that it is for an increase of mod space. This is possible. But the fact remains. Noone knows for sure.

Discuss it here and share your thoughts. Any other posts relating to this Tweet will be removed in order to declutter the feed.

Have a good time, everyone!

👋 Welcome to r/SkyrimModsXboxPorts - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey everyone! Welcome to r/SkyrimModsXboxPorts.

Whether you’re here to request a mod port, take up a port request or check out what others are looking for, you’re in the right place. This community exists solely to facilitate connecting players who need mods ported with porters who have time to do them, all while respecting creators, permissions, and Nexus policies.

What This Community Is For

  • Mod port requests - We only accept mod port requests here. This will keep the subreddit from getting cluttered with irrelevant information. If there is a porter looking for something to do, they can easily come here and see if there is anything that interests them without having to look through unnecessary posts.

Posting a Request? Read The Rules First

  • Be Respectful - We want this to remain a helpful and friendly community. Always be respectful of everyone you are interacting with on this sub.
  • Post Must Meet Community Guidelines - Whenever making a port request, make sure you have provided all necessary information. This information must be provided at the time of posting. If your post does not meet prerequisites, it will be removed.
  • Only Port Requests - Your post must be a port request that follows our guidelines. Otherwise, your post will be removed.
  • No Requesting NSFW Mods To Be Ported - Bethesda does not allow NSFW mods to be uploaded to their site. Thus, requesting these to be ported is against Bethesda's TOS and not allowed here. Any requests of this nature will be removed.
  • Waiting Before Reposting - Whenever requesting a port, understand that it may or may not be fulfilled by a porter. Please allow some time to pass before reposting a port request. Porters aren't available 24/7 and it's a possibility that your request wasn't seen. Don't immediately assume your port request will go unanswered. You must wait at least a week before reposting. Give people time, be considerate.
