What do I even do...

M19, did really well in my gcses, flopped my a-levels hard, been unemployed for about a year now with minimal experience in admin/receptionist work, at this point it feels like they aren't even taking it into consideration considering the massive gap in my cv.

My parents are recommending me to redo my A-Levels and go to university, they see higher education as a saving grace that will grant me a job. Being on the Internet and watching the news a lot, I can see that this clearly isn't the case anymore.

I've been searching for apprenticeships and applying for jobs left right and centre in various fields, nobody wants me, even agencies are telling me they don't have work to give me.

It really is a shame because education has been shoved down my throat, was constantly bombarded with comments about how your Gcses and A levels are so important but in all honesty this isn't even a deciding factor anymore, experience is. It has really taken a toll on my mental health, thinking about how I spent 13 years in education just for it to not even matter. Great, I know how to write sociology essays and do Algebra, what now...

So what im really asking is, what do I do? Do you recommend me going back to education or what?

I dont understand the hate.

I finished the game about a week ago, and im only writing my thoughts now to avoid recency bias.

I still dont understand the hate, I feel like this is a very niche genre so many people might not understand it, especially if they dont enjoy arriving at a town and spending an hour just going through all the citizen's dialogue trees, but that's the genre, and you cant hate it for what its not.

As for the combat, I really didn't have issues, I systematically completed all the side missions as I went along, I feel like I spent more time on those sometimes than the main objectives. I used all my XP pretty well on abilities that I preferred instead of just buying random things.

I collected everything I came across, spent my £s well and was always stocked up on resources.

So I never felt underleveled or that the combat was spongy, everything seemed pretty balanced right until the last boss where I died a few times.

(For context I was playing on hard)

The aesthetics here were great, the citizen's all had their own story to tell which were really fun to listen through, the district treatment system was pretty punishing, especially near the end where even a few nights of not doing my duties, my % dropped a lot.

Putting everything together through the different conversations felt smooth and satisfying. The decision making really made my actions feel like they had weight, always making me think, whats the best thing for me and or the town.

Only thing I could complain about is the volume of lore, understanding everything can really be a choir if you get into the nitty gritty bits of things, but thats more of a thing on my end for forgetting certain details here and there.

So yeah I dont get it, I feel like the people who played and hated on this were people who expected it to be some hack and slash devil my cry vamp remix with a spooky London mask slapped on it.

Thoughts?

Is my reaction warranted?

I work with my dad, for context he's 40, im 19, he's a painter decorator and im his assistant, he's the sort of person that constantly whines about "Gen z this Gen z that" despite not knowing at all how the current world works, his mind is still stuck in 90s Poland.

Despite needing the money I've been more and more fed up working with him, he expects me to basically read his mind and do tasks im not even asked to do, constantly shouts at me, threatens me physically and verbally, calls me an idiot, moron, fucker, pussy, cunt, motherfucker etc worst names under the sun.

Constantly degrades me, saying how worthless I am, at a whim he will threaten me with withholding my payments because all money goes through him.

We have back and forths, me trying to deescalate the situation, approach these situations logically yet like a brick wall there is no way of getting through his thick skull, he believes whatever he does is right and thats that, any resistance to his train of thought always lead to threats and shouting matches during which I just settle and quiet down, becausd realistically what am I going to do when a 40kg heavier man is up in my face saying hes gonna do this and that.

Then when I decided to back out for a while and not work with him he makes a massive scene about how much of a wuss I am, that im just lazy and dont want to work, that I'll amount to nothing because I dont want to get "taught" by him.

Is this just what its like working in the trades?

If so this is definitely not for me...

Or is my father just a narcissistic stuck up prick?

How do I break through?

M19, London England, looking to break into the field as an apprentice but not sure how to approach this.

Looking online I cant find anything meaningful, I've applied to Halfords and Audi apprenticeships but never got a response.

Do I just ring them up, start cold emailing them?

Any tips would greatly help.

Does Disturbia have good quality clothes?

Just as a start, not sure If this is the right place to post this because the piece is like not at all gothic but ive seen a lot of people from this sub having a great amount of knowledge on this brand.

I was scrolling through vinted today and saw this disturbia jumper/sweater, Ive never bought from them but I decided to just experiment and give it a go.

Now reading through reddit I see a very mixed set of opinion from people saying that they fell off and now the quality is bad etc yet others are saying its alright.

So what im asking is, does anyone have any of their sweaters and would therefore be able to say whether they are good or not, and also I'd appreciate just a general opinion on the brand as a whole from people who have previously shopped there.

Is this normal?

I dont know if im deranged or if this is some coping mechanism idk, but I enjoy picking at my gums till they bleed and licking the blood, ive been doing this since ive been in my early teens, im 19 now.

I enjoy the stinging sensation, same thing goes for when I brush my teeth, I like to do it really hard until I bleed.

idk what has caused this habit.

Recommendations on how I should shorten these so it doesnt intervene with the design.

Hiya everyone, I've recently gotten these jeans and they are too long, by about 4-6 inches, been thinking on, wether it is in any way possible to shorten them without disrupting the design?

Luckily the design on one leg is higher up, unfortunately cant say the same about the other...

I've shortened jeans in the past but just not with designs so not sure what to do.

What do I do?

Hello, im writing here to ask, how do I find baggy jeans while being a short and wide guy?

My frame is naturally wider but im 5"6 so any time I try and get my size w30, the length of the jeans is like 5 inches too long, is there anything i can do to make the jeans a better fit for me?

Most of my shopping is done online and its such a pain in the ass to have to return jeans when they dont fit.

Will anyone be willing to take me on?

M19, Im looking to do my Level 3 Qualifications but nobody is willing to take me on as an apprentice to teach me, Ive called up about 100 places in the last week and no one is being helpful.

So what im really asking is whether there is somebody here, that would like to train me, Im located in North West London so finding someone in that area would be most practical but I dont mind travelling to other parts of london.

Thanks in Advance

Do I need PS+ to play zombies solo?

Do I need PS+ to play zombies solo?

I know the newer titles require you to be online at all times, does this apply to BO3 too?

Electrician vs Plumber

Looking to become either an electrician or a plumber, would like to hear the pros and cons of each job from people in the fields, it'd also be nice to know:

-The Expected Salary

-The Current and future demand

-What things I could specialise in

-How likely am I to die doing it 😭

I believe I would be happy doing either, im just worried about two things, one, getting fried from an electric arc and two how things are going to be looking in the future for plumbers considering that everything is going electric even stoves, heaters etc.

Thanks in advance!

Is a career as a mechanic worth it?

I've seen people mention that the pay has gotten significantly better over the last years yet I still hear talks of people earning as low as £32k before taxes.

So what im really asking is whether this is a career worth pursuing, can I make good money working as a basic tech and just getting experience or will I have to specialise in something particular, and if so what?

(For context I live in London)

Thanks in advance.

Access to Higher Education Diploma

Good afternoon,

Im 20, finished my A-Levels with less than ideal grades due to some personal problems a while back, and am currently trying to get back on track by doing an access to HE diploma.

Upon looking at the entry requirements for Bsc Finance I saw that AHEDs are accepted on a case to case basis depending on wether the focus on advanced maths was great enough for the University standards.

Would anyone be able to tell me what I should look out for when picking a AHED so im not turnt away simply based on the modules on the course?

Apprenticeship Opportunities?

Male 19, Finished my A-Levels back in July of 2025, went worse than I was predicted, was offered a contextual offer but I declined it seeing how bad things are with Uni, the job market, student loans as a whole etc.

After working some odd jobs here and there, for the year until now, I've decided I want to pursue something more stable. Ive been looking online for apprenticeship opportunities but have found them all to be paid and currently with money being pretty tight I would really prefer to find a course thats free.

If anyone knows where I can go, who I can contact or what I should do in general, I'd appreciate some guidance. (Im located in North West London)
