Do you have a story, or just plot?

I’ve seen a video a couple times now where a writer talks about how people get plot and story confused. He says plot is just stuff happening, and a lot of what people write is exactly that, just stuff happening. But the story is more about what all that “stuff happening” means. I thought it was a good way to think about it and it’s something I keep asking myself as I’m writing my book.

So I figured I’d ask you, too. Do you have a story, or just plot?

LoopRabbit - Pulse

The heartbeat sound you hear is from my wife’s most recent ultrasound. I joked about sampling it and the radiologist said go for it. Made with 4 channels in AUM on my iPhone. Includes mastering using the new Afterglow app.

My first full ambient track. I wanted to see what I could do with a single instrument on a single channel. I used Solderbox, a modular synth, run through a couple different fx. All done in AUM on my iPhone.

So I have a lot of fun with the sound design bits and making swelling, evolving ambient soundscapes. But I have no real idea how to structure it into a song. Right now, I'm just using crossfading to make loops, but it would be nice to be able to make actual songs. Any advice?
