Some time ago, when the ID verifs for porn were rolling out in the states, mine was one of the first to get hit, and whaddaya know, RedGifs was essentially walled off unless you paid the troll toll. My uncle, who was a porn connoisseur, at the time, said "there ain't no way they're doing that to us" and said that I, out of all people, was bluffing. I showed him the screen and he was like "no goddamn way" and I could tell that within that thousand-yard stare of disbelief, like he had been thrown off the plane straight into the Vietnamese jungle, that he was thinking up of something special as he opened the front door and went straight towards the neighbors' house. You see, the neighbors, who were some flavor of Catholic, were, at the time, some very amicable fellows. My uncle never let on about his particular hobby, only that the neighbors knew that he was a strange ol' son-of-a-gun this side of the block. He worked his magic and got the wireless password from the neighbors, convincing them that the "internet people" had mucked up our connection and we were without wi-fi. You see, these neighbors had a VPN (immigration reasons, I don't need to get into all that) and my uncle had this theory that if they'd really blocked RedGifs in our state, the VPN would easily be able to get around that. Little did I know that I had my bluetooth speaker out back, which is where my own mother was doing the laundry. RedGifs loaded, but not the sound. It was only then that I knew. I'd forgotten to take the connection off from the laptop to speaker, and my mother got an earful of "the most intense ASMR session [she] has ever heard in [her] life".
