Not being able eat with clients is going to have a bad effect on my career
I'm in sales. We see customers for lunch and social events all the time. Thankfully I'm not constantly hunting for new business and I work with a lot of the same reps over and over, but I'm rocking an Essix a week after extraction. Fucking thing sucks. It's not even a discreet gap either, it's my two front teeth. You can't hide that. I look like a crackhead with it taken out lol.
But there's really no good and also fast option here. I had a failed bridge that turned into an abscess - root canal from 15 years ago. Going with another bridge across my two front teeth would likely not function well and I'd be destroying another healthy tooth. It was implants or dealing with this for the rest of my life.
Has anyone actually blown through multiple Essix retainers from eating with them in? Are there certain foods/procedures you can do to minimize damages? I had to get a bone graft so I know a flipper isn't an option for now, but in a few months if it heals I might switch to that if it's easier to eat on them. That way if it ever breaks I have the Essix as a backup. This just isn't practical in my day to day life. I'm keeping it as clean as possible and salt water rinsing every night before bed.
