I just tried to go see it…

So after work today I set out to go see it… went to a restaurant near the theater for a solo dinner and cocktails to get tipsy and excited. I almost never go to the movies… last time in ten years was to see The Boy and the Heron bc I’m a diehard Miyazaki enjoyer.

So anyways after dinner I walked to the theater and found it was sold out!… checked the next showing at another theater nearby…also sold out. Now I’m home…will try again soon.

I’m not mad about it at all. I’m reflecting on how I’m so pleased by the power of awesomeness that sometimes shines through capitalism and marketing. I work in marketing and am aware they did some brilliant marketing for this film but living in nyc I never actually saw any of it irl. I think this film is getting the popularity it deserves out of merit.

I saw the director’s other films on YouTube and was really impressed. I think Curry Barker’s deep involvement in his projects… he conceptualizes, writes, direct, edits and acts in his movies… with limited budgets in a time where ai exists… makes him a visionary.

Compared to a typical Hollywood budget what he is able to do with good ideas, storytelling and such sensitivity to the viewer’s perception when editing in terms of both the visuals and sound… has such empathy towards the audiences’ experience and creating the intended impact…it’s notable. It makes me feel optimistic for the future of film.

Has anyone else found dead bees in their apartment recently?

I’ve been keeping the windows open and found 6 dead bees in my apartment this morning…they look like honey bees. I didn’t notice them yesterday. Seems kind of unusual.
