Nurses talking shit about float and patients on a specific unit... Getting tired of it

I'm a float mental health nurse. There is a particular unit at my hospital with a very unfortunate and "toxic" culture. I have had to make reports before due to unprofessional conduct of staff, such as wishing death upon patients in the nursing station, and laughing about patients self harming (not in a dark humour way, in a genuinely horrific way). I hadn't been there in months and was floated there again. I was not sure how it would be. But, unfortunately it was the same. The nurses were all very catty and gossip-like, talking the same smack about me and my float team right in front of me as well as saying horrible things about the patients too. For example, right in front of me a nurse said "oh my god I hate the float nurses" she turned to look at me before she said this. There were also other similar comments like this throughout the day, such as how bad the unit is when there are too many float nurses on it.

As for comments about patients, a nurse was going through belongings, picked up a sharp object, and said, a particular patient would "love it". This nurse, when discharging a patient, also said while laughing "what is she gonna do, jump on the subway tracks?".

I am just appalled these people are mental health nurses. It really discourages me every time I go to that unit. I was quite close to speaking up to the charge nurse, however given the unit culture and fear for mass retaliation I decided it was best to speak to my manager, ask not to be sent to that unit again given they do not value me as a team member, and request to have it taken up with their own manager. And I don't expect any change to happen given the nurse who made the horrible comments about patients last time is still there making the same horrible comments.

I accidentally left my email open on my computer too, left the nursing station, and when I came back noted that the page had been scrolled on. I suspect that they snooped on my computer and saw the email, or at least the title.

Anyways, I just wanted to vent. And, no I really don't see this as dark humour. I acknowledge dark humour as a thing to cope in healthcare but I draw a line when a person is taking joy in someone's pain or wishing harm on someone they are supposed to be caring for. That is just putrid. These nurses suck.

Edit: oh also, a nurse coming into her shift on nights at the end of my shift was like "this patient is an IDIOT. ketamine infusion doesn't make you DIZZY. She's playing us! Why does she need a wheelchair!!!!".... Meanwhile, dizziness is one of the most common side effects of ketamine infusion.... She thought because it gives you high blood pressure it CANT make you DIZZY smh.

Roommate says she doesn't clean because "it's all your stuff", continues to use my stuff anyways

My current roommate who I am fortunately parting ways with soon, recently admitted to never cleaning, and explained it is because it is "all my stuff". It is true I furnished the apartment living areas, which she was aware of before moving. However, she continues to use MY STUFF and still doesn't clean. She also has no excuse for not cleaning the kitchen, because that came with the apartment.

She has never once vacuumed the common areas, but uses my expensive 200+ dollar vacuum in her own room and has ruined the motor. Never mopped. Always leaves gross sometimes moldy food in the sink I have to pick out. She has taken out the garbage FIVE times in six months. I take it out 2-3 times a week. She leaves stains on the floor and couch and hair and doesn't clean up.

I find this excuse fucking ridiculous. The fact that I was even nice enough to let her use many of my things, and then she disrespects them and never cleans is appalling.

What an excuse!

Edit: also don't get me started on deep cleaning. This is just the basics. One time when I asked her to take the trash out which included most of her own recycling she asked for my help, I calmly explained I would not help because it is her turn to take the trash out since I take it out regularly and she has only taken it out a handful of times in months. She then became aggressive and said "I am trying really hard not to say something rude right now" yikes.

Master Bedroom with Ensuite and walk in closet | 1 Minute to Eglinton Station | Available September 1 | parking included

Hi! My name is 10mg-aripiprazole, I'm 25 years old and work as a registered nurse. I'm looking for a respectful, clean roommate, ideally another female close to my age, to share a beautiful 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo starting September 1

About the room:

* Large master bedroom

* Private ensuite bathroom

* Walk-in closet

* Parking available

Location:

The condo is just a 1-minute walk to Eglinton Station, with grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, and other essentials all within walking distance.

Rent:

* $1,700/month

* Utilities are extra and are typically around $100/month per person, including utilities, Wi-Fi, and tenant insurance.

Parking:

A parking space is available. If you don't need it, we can rent it out for approximately $200/month, meaning we'd each receive about $100/month, which you can put toward your rent.

Condo:

The condo has a gym, spa with hot tubs, sauna, and steam room, yoga room with classes, roof top deck, movie theatre, and social club that hosts lots of cool activities.

About me:

I'm clean, respectful, and easy to live with. I have two very friendly, affectionate cats that I take full responsibility for, so there would be no pet care expected from you.

Lease:

I'm ideally looking for someone interested in a 1-year lease, although I'm open to discussing other arrangements.

Guarantor:

Ideally, you'd have a guarantor as well, since I do, and it makes the leasing process much simpler.

If this sounds like a good fit, feel free to message me with a little bit about yourself. I'd love to chat and answer any questions!

Edit: also if you are a good fit I will send pics in the DMS!

Not rent controlled but LL has not changed rent in the 2 years I've been here and say they are not planning to

Health insurance

Hey guys,

For the part timers, what health insurance do you have/suggest? I just switched to part time after being FT for 2 years and the benefit loss is kinda screwing me over since im not getting as many shifts as I hoped.

I have quite a lot of expensive medications for pre-existing conditions that i get blister packed. I do get trillium but it has a large deductable. I probably need something that does not take into account medical history as I have a healthy (or unhealthy lol) amount of past medical history which would surely drive up rates. In addition, my credit score is quite low right now due to several factors. Im not sure how much this effects things.

I am also interested in dental, and short/long term disability as I have chronic illness and some cavities to fill.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I saw ONA has a deal with bel air direct but they dont have much listed on their website...

Thanks!

▲ 10 r/Emo

I like (not all emo):

The jazz june, the promise ring, gap year, vehicle flips, iceage, beat happening olde pine, zolof, versus, bedhead, seam, first day back, archers of loaf, yo la tengo, galaxie 500, kind of like spitting, tful, velocity girl, rainer maria, the lazarus plot, strictly ballroom, casiotone for the painfully alone, superchunk, mock orange, the wrens, her space holiday.

That is a long list of example bands I have listened to, just so I dont get recommended something i already know.

I am open to emo and non emo, but prefer mostly emo.

Thank you, delete if not allowed.
