Trope name for characters that are originally smart but later the writers decide to make them dumb / take an ooc decision, just for the plot to make sense?

Originally thought about this for Tyrell Wellick (Mr. Robot) a few years ago but after The Boys last episode, I need the trope name to refer to >!what they're doing to Soldier Boy!<
