Sponsoring cousin marriage in an illegal state
Like the title says - if I as a US citzen married my first cousin, could I sponsor her as my spouse even though I live in a state where its illegal?

Bit of a specific one but my mom suggested my first cousin to me and at first I was really put off because I grew up in the west, but the more I think about it the more I realize it can make sense.
Before I start getting invested though, one issue is that first cousin marriage is illegal in my state. Could I still sponsor her if we get married in a different country? Any married first cousins living in a state where its technically illegal?
I’ve heard US marriage sponsorship recognizes marriage in the place where it happened, but for sponsorship purposes it must also be valid in the place you intend to live…which would be problematic for me.
For context I’m 24 and been smoking for 2 years but smoked weed for another 2 before that. Always been decently athletic - was a swimmer in highschool, regular gym goer throughout college, and ran plenty.
Fitness has always been super important to me. Went for a run after 6 months break and have never been more humbled. For the first time ever my body couldn’t keep up with my mind.
I remember last year smoking a cigarette and deciding to impulsively run 23km, and I was able to do it…
You never believe that smoking is bad for your health until it happens to you I guess. Needed this wakeup call to remind me noone is invincible.
