Modern cars just lack that boxy soul
1993 front end wire harness connector delete
I’m hard wiring everything together and getting rid of the connector to the front end for the headlights, turn signals, flashers, fog lights and whatever else.
Reason being is that the connector basically fell apart and wires had come out of both ends. So far I have everything connected and working except for wire number 10 which is like gray/black with a white stripe and another miscellaneous wire which looks maybe half pink half black.
There were no corresponding wires coming out of the front itself, so I’m not sure what those hook up to and I can’t find a color coded diagram online. Both wires are running from the harness itself toward the front but no more wires are coming back from the front to pair up.
Do any of y’all know what those wires go to?
93 suddenly starts then dies
She started fine this morning and hasn’t had any issues starting and turning over since I got her, but this morning after driving to an AC shop and putting her in park I got a call that she starts and dies.
Things I checked and did:
Battery is healthy and putting out proper amps
Replaced Auto shutdown relay
Replaced fuel pump relay
All fuses are fine
Cleaned rotor and contacts on distributor
Replaced fuel ballast
Replace IAC
Changed oil and filter
Coolant is at level and clean
Fuel pump makes priming noise
At this point I don’t know if I got something in my gas because this happened after I filled up last night, or what is going on. CPS was not fun to replace.
No codes just gives me code 55. Doesn’t sputter then die, just starts as normal then shuts off all at once.
What should be next on my list of things to replace/check?
Jingling sound when driving over bumps/rough road
Never fails, fix one thing and the next thing is right behind it.
I just replaced my front rotors and pads and everything was pretty straightforward. Brakes feel great now, making me realize how bad and deadly my old rotors and pads were.
But now there’s a new thing going on with no noticeable effect on driving, turning, shocks absorbing shock etc.
Whenever I drive over a bump or a rough patch of road there’s this jingling sound coming from somewhere under my XJ. As far as I can tell it’s coming from the driver’s side center or back and it sounds like if you hung a set of keys up under your car and they’re jangling together.
I crawled underneath and slapped and poked and looked but saw nothing loose and couldn’t get anything to jingle, even rocking the damn thing up and down from all sides.
Any ideas as to what jingles like this and what I should be looking for?
EDIT: I’ve isolated the sound to the rear driver’s side wheel. Nothing loose on the outside which makes me wonder if the shop didn’t secure hardware correctly inside the drum for the shoes when they did the back brakes a few days ago. I’ll have to pull the drum off to inspect.
Can I jack it here?
Been having a tough time finding out about proper jack points for a floor jack. I usually use the diff or axle but I need to jack up the front passenger side to work on my brakes.
Is this the correct spot to jack it up with a floor jack?
