Heart palpations causing panic or panic causing the palpations.

Hello. 2 months ago I was healthy as can be. But then I started getting palpations. Usually at night and only a couple. But it has progressively gotten worse. I'm at the ER for the 3rd time because I experienced more palpations in an hour than I did in the first month. Chest pain in and out. I believe one day I had a panic attack and thought I was dying. Called my wife and everything. Could not breathe. I finally calmed down and labeled all the previous symptoms as panic related which put me at ease. Then my palpations come back at the cyclic rate. I don't have a waking moment without them it seems unless I'm lying down.

I used to be a hard drinker for a couple years. I stopped promptly when the heart palpations started and not touched it since. Nor caffeine. But why are the palpations still here? I say that because I do believe it's possible this is a withdrawal. But 2 weeks later and not improving? So is it panic? My first two ekgs showed nothing (because they pulled it off in half a second). My third I made them leave it on for minutes to capture several. What am I to do. I don't think I'm withdrawing anymore, nor do I generally feel anxious or panicked. But I did indeed panic about the first big scare. I can run my fitness tests with flying colors and my blood pressure stays at a high normal at waking.
