Sleazy hvac company scams someone into giving them money, contractor takes their money. System doesn’t work right/breaks. Scammer fucks it up more, then makes up excuse why it can’t be fixed now and leaves customer pissed. Now I have to go deal with someone’s shitty job. These calls are getting more frequent and I’m getting sick of this bullshit. Anyone else have similar experiences?

As title says, sewer has been backing up in my basement shower for the past 5 years. First time it happened I rented the machine and cleared the main line. Fast forward, last summer I hired someone to come clear it again and they used a water jet to completely get all the roots out. A month later the sewer backs up again, call the city and they say their side is fine. I’m frustrated.

Anyway, it keeps happening once in a while, no rhyme or reason why. Happened yesterday, happened 2 weeks ago, wasn’t even using any water. Happened a couple months ago, wasn’t even home for hours, wasn’t raining. City says it has to be tree roots. It doesn’t make any sense.

Is there anything I can do or do I need to dig up the pipe and put in a check valve?
